Tribunal Arbitral du Sport Court of Arbitration for Sport MEDIA RELEASE ATHLETICS – ANTI-DOPING THE COURT OF ARBITRATION FOR SPORT (CAS) REGISTERS APPEALS FILED IN RELATION TO ATHLETES SALWA EID NASER (BAHRAIN) AND CHRISTIAN COLEMAN (USA) Lausanne, 26 November 2020 - The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered two new appeals filed against decisions taken by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) Disciplinary Tribunal: Salwa Eid Naser World Athletics (WA) has filed an appeal against the decision rendered by the AIU Disciplinary Tribunal on 14 October 2020 in relation to the athlete Salwa Eid Naser who represents Bahrain. In such decision the AIU Disciplinary Tribunal concluded that the athlete had not committed an Anti- Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) in relation to an alleged filing failure and missed tests. In its appeal to the CAS, WA requests that the AIU Disciplinary Tribunal decision of 14 October 2020 be set aside and that it be replaced with a new decision in which Salwa Eid Naser is found to have committed an ADRV and sanctioned with a two-year period of ineligibility. Christian Coleman The US track and field athlete Christian Coleman has filed an appeal against WA in relation to the decision issued by the AIU Disciplinary Tribunal dated 22 October 2020. In such decision, the athlete was found to have committed an ADRV in relation to an alleged filing failure and missed tests and sanctioned with a two-year period of ineligibility. In his appeal to the CAS, Christian Coleman requests that the decision of the AIU Disciplinary Tribunal of 22 October 2020 be set aside and that the sanction be eliminated, or in the alternative, reduced. The CAS arbitrations are in progress and the parties will exchange written submissions in the coming weeks. Simultaneously, separate Arbitral Panels are being appointed to decide each matter.
