JASON DANIELEY Critically Acclaimed and Award-Winning JASON DANIELEY Critically acclaimed and award-winning Broadway actor, singer and concert performer, Jason Danieley, most recently starred on Broadway as the ill-mannered Philip Stuckey in PRETTY WOMAN: THE MUSICAL. Prior to that, other Broadway credits include Billy Flynn in CHICAGO, THE VISIT as Schoolmaster Kuhn and Aaron Fox in CURTAINS (Outer Critics Circle nomination) all three musicals written by Kander & Ebb. Jason played husband Dan Goodman opposite his real-life wife, Marin Mazzie, in the Tony and Pulitzer Prize Award-winning musical, NEXT TO NORMAL. He made his Broadway debut as the titular character in the Harold Prince helmed CANDIDE (Theatre World Award and Drama Desk Nomination) and originated the role of Malcolm in the Broadway and West End casts of THE FULL MONTY. He’s had leading roles in A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN and STRIKE UP THE BAND as part of City Center's Encores series. His Off-Broadway performances include THE TROJAN WOMEN: A LOVE STORY, DREAM TRUE by Ricky Ian Gordon and FLOYD COLLINS by Adam Guettel. Some of his Regional Theatre appearances include George in SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE (Joseph Jefferson nomination), SOME LOVERS by Burt Bacharach, THE HIGHEST YELLOW by Michael John LaChiusa (Helen Hayes Award, Best Actor in a Musical), BEAUTY by Tina Landau, CASINO PARADISE by William Bolcolm, 110 IN THE SHADE (Garland Award – Best Actor in a Musical) and BRIGADOON at Los Angeles' Reprise concert series. As a concert soloist, Jason has appeared with many of the country's leading orchestras including the New York, Boston and Philly Pops, L.A. Philharmonic, Czech Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, San Francisco, San Diego, St. Louis, Grant Park, Ravinia Festival, Utah, Minnesota and Buffalo Symphonies, Orchestra of St. Luke's and the BBC Concert Orchestra singing all over the globe. He also appeared in numerous critically acclaimed performances with fellow Broadway star and late wife, Marin Mazzie, in their theatrical cabaret concerts OPPOSITE YOU, HE SAID/SHE SAID and BROADWAY & BEYOND in some of the country’s leading venues including Feinstein’s/54Below, Café Carlyle, Feinstein’s at the Lowes Regency, Joe’s Pub and the Cinegrill to name only a very few. Jason can be heard on all of the original cast albums FLOYD COLLINS, DREAM TRUE, CANDIDE, THE FULL MONTY, CURTAINS, THE VISIT, PRETTY WOMAN, concert cast albums SOUTH PACIFIC, CAROUSEL and his solo album JASON DANIELEY & THE FRONTIER HEROES as well as the two albums with Marin OPPOSITE YOU (NPR album of the year) and the forthcoming posthumous album MARIN & JASON: BROADWAY & BEYOND.     Welcome It is my pleasure to welcome you to AS YOU LIKE IT, the first production of our 50th anniversary season, and the first show in our Shakespearean act. Shakespeare’s plays have been a cornerstone of our work at CSC, and his writing continues to reflect and refract our triumphs and trials as individuals and collectively as a society. We inevitability turn to Shakespeare to express our despair, bewilderment, and delight. So, what better place to start our anniversary year than with the contemplative search for self and belonging in As You Like It. At the heart of this beautiful play is a speech that so perfectly encapsulates our mortality. All the world’s a stage, and we go through so many changes as we make our exits and our entrances. You will have noticed many changes for CSC. We have a new look, new membership opportunities, and are programming in a new way with more productions and a season that splits into what we have called “acts.” Each act focuses either on a playwright or on an era of work. It seemed appropriate to inaugurate this with a mini-season of Shakespeare, which continues with Fiasco Theater's TWELFTH NIGHT. Then there is Act II: Americans dedicated to work by American playwrights Terrence McNally (FIRE AND AIR) and Tennessee Williams (SUMMER AND SMOKE); very little of our repertoire has focused on classics written by Americans. This act also premieres a new play by Terrence McNally, as I feel that the word classic can also encapsulate the “bigger idea” and need not always be the work of a writer from the past.

    AUGUST 2016 WELCOME Welcome to the funny, unexpected, and delightfully off-kilter world of Meteor Shower. With this world premiere production, we’re thrilled to continue our ongoing relationship with the brilliant artist Steve Martin. The Globe’s production of Bright Star, Steve and Edie Brickell’s new musical that premiered here in 2014, transferred to Broadway earlier this year, where it was nominated for an impressive five Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Next season, the Globe will mount a major revival of Steve’s 1993 play Picasso at the Lapin Agile. We’re glad Steve has found a new artistic home here in San Diego. The Globe is an especially fitting place to premiere Meteor Shower because it is a DOUGLAS GATES California story. Set in Ojai in the 1990s, Managing Director Michael G. Murphy and Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein. the play examines a specific moment in the life of our state. It’s a theatrical snapshot of the mores and (kooky) ways of society in Southern California, and though it’s set in the past, it’s eminently recognizable to Californians today. It’s also a pleasure to welcome yet another artistic director of a major regional theatre here at the Globe. Gordon Edelstein is the Artistic Director of Long Wharf Theatre in Connecticut, the great company we’re partnering with to co-produce this show, and the fifth artistic director to helm a show at the Globe this year.
