CLARA RODRIGUEZ Dancer and Singer Oakland, California Clara Rodriguez is the artistic director of AguaClara Flamenco and dancer, choreographer and musician based in Oakland, CA. Born into a family of musicians in her native Santa Barbara, CA, she discovered flamenco as a young girl. She studied flamenco and classical Spanish dance as she simultaneously trained as a classical pianist, later earning a B.A. in Ethnomusicology from UCLA before returning her focus to flamenco dance. She has performed at esteemed venues such as Jaipur Palace of India, Tablao Albayzin of Granada Spain, The Palace of Fine Arts, War Memorial Opera House, Yerba Buena Center, Paramount Theater, the Greek Theater of Los Angeles amongst many others. Founded in 2011, her company presented full-length works Somos Tierra in 2012 and Diálogos in 2015, produced by the Azahar Dance Foundation at the Cowell Theater in San Francisco. AguaClara Flamenco presented works in the 2016 San Francisco International Arts Festival and the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival. Rodriguez has been a soloist with the leading flamenco companies of California including Caminos Flamencos, La Tania Baile Flamenco and Theatre Flamenco San Francisco. JOEY HEREDIA Percussionist Los Angeles, California Joey Heredia, studio drummer and flamenco percussionist, has shared the stage with many artists and below are just a few. Tower of Power, Diego Amador, Sheila E, Stevie Wonder, Freddie Hubbard, Poncho Sanchez, Sergio Mendes, Tania Maria, Dianne Reeves, Scott Henderson, Gary Willis, Tribal Tech, Frank Gambale, Steve Lukather, Carole King, Manhattan Transfer, Joe Sample, Herb Alpert, Peggy Lee, Willie Bobo, James Ingram, Robben Ford, L. Subramaniam, Perry Farrell,Kenny Rankin, Doc Severinson, Bob James, Roger Waters, Chick Corea. Over the last 9 years, Joey has pursued his love for the art of flamenco and regularly shares the stage with many of the top flamenco artists from the US and abroad, such as Spanish artists Amador Rojas, Domingo Ortega and Alejandro Granados. Currently, Mr. Heredia is involved in a new project with the international flamenco artist, pianist/singer Diego Amador. KAI NAREZO Guitarist Los Angeles, California Kai Narezo is a flamenco guitarist who has always had one foot planted in the Old World and the other in the New. His sound reflects a deep reverence for the roots and the soul of traditional flamenco, a love for the modern flamenco landscape, and an American sensibility rooted in jazz-fusion and contemporary production techniques. His first album, Vueltas, was released in 2006, and his latest album, Contra Tiempo, was released in 2015. His co-authored textbook, A Compás: The Flamenco Guitar Survival Guide, will be the first text ever to be used to teach flamenco at Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he also studied as a recipient of the BEST Scholarship. He started playing at the age of 12 and has studied and performed with some of the most prolific names in the world of flamenco. His work has also appeared in various film and television projects. Narezo is a brilliant soloist in high demand as an accompanist and is a dedicated and proven teacher. He holds a B.A. degree in Russian Literature from Columbia University, a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music and currently resides in Los Angeles, California, with his wife Shulie and dog Walter. .
