NOTICE OF RACE

The UK Halsey Sailmakers May League will take place at the Royal (RCYC), , on the following dates:

1 RULES 1.1 The Regatta will be sailed under the current RRS, the ISA prescriptions, the IRC Rules, part 1, 2 and 3, the ECHO handicapping System, Class rules where applicable, by this Notice of Race and by the General Sailing Instructions of the Royal Cork Yacht Club (RCYC) except as amended by this program. Amendments to this program and RCYC General Sailing Instructions will be posted on the RCYC notice board.

1.2 IRC Crew limitation shall not apply.

2 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 2.1 A completed signed Race Entry Declaration 2013 and current valid ECHO and /or IRC certificates must be submitted before 18:00hrs on Friday 3rd May 2013 in order for a boat to be eligible for a result. Boats that have not submitted a valid Race Entry Declaration and Certificate(s) may not be given a result.

2.2 Classes will be divided on the basis of their IRC TCF and the anticipated Class Divisions are as follows:

2.3 Results will only be issued to boats that have valid sail numbers clearly legible on both sides of its mainsail.

3 CLASSIFICATION 3.1 Entries in Class1, 2, 3 and White Sail must comply with ISAF Special Regulations Governing Offshore Racing for Category 4 Races. 1720s must comply with their class safety rules.

3.2 Entries in all classes are required to fly the correct pennant. Any boat not flying the correct pennant may not be scored. 1720s need not fly a pennant.

3.3 The OA reserves the right to combine Classes if the number of entries does not justify separate Classes.

3.4 Boats shall show their correct Sail Numbers. Permission to race using any other Sail Number must be sought from the Race Office prior to going afloat. Any boat not showing its correct Sail Numbers may not be scored.

3.5 The Race Committee reserve the right to place any boat in any Class they deem appropriate.

4.2 7 races are scheduled.

5 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The event will be sailed under the General Sailing Instructions of the RCYC.

6 VENUE The event will be hosted by the RCYC and will be sailed in the waters of and its approaches.

7 SCORING 7.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A will apply, with the following amendments:

DNC Number of finishers in that race plus 3 points DNS Number of finishers in that race plus 1 point OCS Number of finishers in that race plus 2 points BFD Number of finishers in that race plus 2 points DNF/RAF/OOT Number of finishers in that race plus 1 point DSQ Number of finishers in that race plus 2 points DNE/DGM Number of finishers in that race plus 3 points

7.2 3 races are required to be completed to constitute a series. 7.3 (a) When fewer than 4 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores. (b) When from 4 to 7 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score. 8 RADIO COMMUNICATION 8.1 Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all competing boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

8.2 VHF Channel 71 will be used for race management.

9 PRIZES 9.1 Prizes will be awarded on a one boat one prize basis, as follows:

Class 1 IRC 1st, 2nd. Class 1 ECHO 1st, 2nd. Class 2 IRC 1st, 2nd. Class 2 ECHO 1st, 2nd. Class 3 IRC 1st, 2nd. Class 3 ECHO 1st, 2nd. White Sail ECHO 1st, 2nd.

White Sail IRC 1st, 2nd. 1720 OD 1st, 2nd.

10 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY The Safety of a boat and her entire management including insurance shall be the sole responsibility of the owner/competitor racing the boat. He/She must ensure that the boat and her crew are adequate to face the conditions that may arise in the course of the Regatta. Neither the establishment of the required safety regulations nor the inspection of any boat in any way limits or reduces the absolute responsibility of the owner/competitor for their crew, boat and the management thereof.

11 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of €2,000,000 per Regatta or the equivalent.
