People’s Choice Barbecue Competition and FREE Little River Band Concert at Andover Central Park June 14 May 1, 2014 (Andover, Kan.) – The Andover Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), BOB-FM and 100.5 the Wolf announced today Little River Band will be performing with special guest Natalie Stovall and The Drive live in concert Saturday, June 14 in Andover Central Park. The concert will be FREE, however concert-goers must obtain a ticket from one of several area businesses prior to the show. In addition to the concert, this year the CVB, BOB-FM and the Wolf will also be presenting a People’s Choice Barbecue Competition, hosted by All Things Barbecue. Twelve teams are already signed up to compete. “The local barbecue community is excited about the event,” says Josh Cary with All Things Barbecue. Cash, trophies, ribbons and Coleman products will be awarded. This is the second year for the summer concert in the park and the first for the barbecue competition. The idea to host a summer outdoor event stemmed from the desire of the Andover CVB to build a permanent outdoor amphitheater in Central Park. The Andover Convention and Visitors Bureau is funded through hotel guest taxes, received through the two local hotels: Days Inn and Holiday Inn Express. Andover general fund tax dollars are not used to pay for the event. “Last year’s concert told us this is something people in the region want,” says CVB Chairperson Ben Lawrence. “I am looking forward to seeing what the addition of the People’s Choice Barbecue Competition will do for this event. I’d guess we will surpass the 5,000 attendee mark this year.” Connoisseur Media, LLC General Manager Doug Downs says, “We are very excited to work with The Andover CVB on another free concert. BOB FM and 100.5 The Wolf are thrilled to once again offer our listeners an opportunity to attend a great concert, this time The Little River Band. We look forward to a huge crowd in Andover Central Park on June 14th.” Little River Band was formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1975. Between 1976 and 1983, chart success included the following singles: Reminiscing, Lady, Cool Change, Lonesome Loser, The Night Owls, Take It Easy On Me, and We Two.
