51s BRIEFINGS – Las Vegas opens the 2018 campaign with a five-game homestand against the El Paso Chihuahuas, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, from Thursday-Monday, April 5-9…El Paso has finished in first place in the Pacific Conference Southern Division for three straight seasons (2015-17) and won the PCL Championship in 2016 (defeated Oklahoma City, 3-games-to-1)…the 2018 season will feature 140 games…following the homestand, the 51s will embark on their first road trip of the season beginning on Tuesday, April 10 at Albuquerque, New Mexico against the Isotopes, Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies…the trip will consist of seven games: three at Albuquerque (Tuesday-Thursday, April 10-12) and a four-game series against El Paso from Friday-Monday, April 13-16.

36 SEASONS IN THE SILVER STATE - The 51s are playing in their 36th Pacific Coast League season in the Silver State…the Las Vegas 51s have the proud distinction of being the longest enduring franchise in the history of professional sports in the state of Nevada…Las Vegas Triple-A baseball was born on April 10, 1983 before a crowd of 10,622 at Cashman Field (Las Vegas defeated Salt Lake City, 11-8).

LAS VEGAS BALLPARK AT DOWNTOWN SUMMERLIN: The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) announced on October 10, 2017 its plans to develop and construct a baseball stadium in Downtown Summerlin® on approximately eight acres just south of City National Arena, the practice facility for the Vegas Golden Knights. The announcement on October 10, followed a vote by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority Board of Directors approving a marketing partnership that gives LVCVA naming rights to the stadium. The Las Vegas Ballpark is being designed by HOK, a global architecture firm with an expertise in stadium design. 51s on Radio in 2018: Russ Langer will broadcast all 140, games on NBC Sports Radio AM 920 ‘The Game’ and on www.LV51.com. Langer is in his 19th season behind the mike…he is a 10-time recipient of the Nevada Sportscaster of the Year award (2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015) presented by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association…also worked a total of 30 Montreal Expos games during the 2003 and 2004 seasons…in 2006, Langer was hired for additional major league duty by the Baltimore Orioles and broadcast 10 games on a fill-in basis during the course of the season…has also broadcast selected Los Angeles Dodgers Spring Training games in March of 2006 and in Arizona in March of 2008 and with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2009 and 2010 and Chicago White Sox in 2012-18...also broadcast the action for the 2016 Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network from Charlotte, North Carolina…in 2017, Langer also completed his sixth season as the radio “play-by-play voice” for the UNLV Football team.

ROBERT J. BLUM BROADCAST BOOTH AT CASHMAN FIELD: The “51s Home Radio Booth” was renamed the “Robert J. Blum Broadcast Booth” prior to the 2013 season to honor the 51s Special Assistant to the General …“The Blummer” passed away on July 22, 2012 at the age of 91...also served as the play-by-play voice for Stars/51s baseball in selected seasons from 1985-2005 & 2008-10…his company, Robert J. Blum Productions, also produced Las Vegas Triple-A professional baseball games broadcast on radio and television for several seasons.

51s Manager Tony DeFrancesco: He was named the 24th manager (January 9, 2018) in the history of the Las Vegas franchise (1983 - present, 35 seasons). Career Summary: He has compiled 33 seasons overall in professional baseball, including 23 seasons as manager (over .500 seasons in 18 of 23 years)…has compiled an overall managerial record over 23 seasons of 1,597-1,391 (.534) in the Oakland A's (1994-2010) and (2011-17) organizations…has also compiled an impressive Pacific Coast League managerial career record over 14 seasons of 1,075-867 (.554) as a Triple-A skipper from 2003-07, 2009-17…was a member of the Houston Astros organization for the past seven seasons (2011-17) and was the manager for Triple-A Oklahoma City for four seasons (2011-14) and Triple-A Fresno for three seasons (2015-17)…was the manager of the PCL squad at the 2017 Triple-A All-Star Game…was also the manager for seven seasons at Triple-A Sacramento (Oakland A's) from 2003-07, 2009-10…the PCL tenure includes four championships (2003, 2004, 2007, 2015), two Triple-A National Championships (2007, 2015) and eight division titles…was named the 2003 PCL Manager of the Year and the 2015 Minor League Manager of the Year by Baseball America…the four PCL titles is tied with Hall of Famer Del Crandall for the most championships in league history. 51s Coaching Staff: Joel Chimelis enters his 15th season overall as a coach in professional baseball and his first season in the Mets organization as the hitting coach for Triple-A Las Vegas. Minor League Coaching Career: He spent 12 seasons in the Houston Astros organization and was the hitting coach for Double-A Corpus Christi of the Texas League for two seasons (2012, 2017)…prior to 2017, he spent 11 years in Houston's system, starting at Single-A Tri-City of the New York-Penn League (2006-10) and working his way to Single-A Lexington of the South Atlantic League (2011) and Corpus Christi (2012) before spending four years at Single-A Quad Cities of the Midwest League (2013-16)…before joining the Astros, he spent two years (2004-05) on the coaching staff of the Single-A Savannah Sand Gnats of the South Atlantic League in the Montreal Expos/Washington Nationals organization…during the 2014 offseason, he served as hitting coach for the Puerto Rican Winter League champion Cangrejeros de Santurce. Glenn Abbott enters his eighth season overall in the Mets organization and his first season as the pitching coach at Triple-A Las Vegas. Minor League Coaching Career: He spent the previous six seasons as pitching coach for Double- A Binghamton of the Eastern League (2012-17)...in 2017, Binghamton compiled a record of 85-54 (.612) and advanced to the EL playoffs…also served as pitching coach for Single-A Savannah of the South Atlantic League in 2011…was a member of the San Diego Padres system before joining the Mets…served as pitching coach for Double-A San Antonio of the Texas League in 2007 and 2010…served in the same role with Triple-A Portland of the Pacific Coast League in 2008 and 2009 and with Double-A Mobile of the Southern League in 2006…was also pitching coach in the system from 2003-05…spent a total of 13 seasons as a coach in Oakland’s organization from 1990- 2002...made his coaching debut with the Mets in 1985 with Single-A Little Falls of the New York-Penn League and stayed with the organization through the 1989 season. Jeremy Accardo enters his second season in the New York Mets organization and his first season as the bullpen coach with Triple-A Las Vegas…in 2017, he served as the pitching coach for Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Mets…spent eight seasons in the Major Leagues with San Francisco (2005-06), Toronto (2006-10), Baltimore (2011), Cleveland (2012) and Oakland (2012)…appeared in 262 career games and posted a 10-20 record with a 4.30 ERA with 38 saves (285.0 IP/205 SO)...was originally signed by San Francisco as a non-drafted free agent in 2003 after playing college ball at Illinois State University and earned his degree in 2016…was a member of Triple-A Las Vegas for two seasons (Toronto, 2009-10) and is the franchise leader with 37 career saves.
