For Business Award Symbolizes Our Gratitude for Extraordinary Efforts by Legislators on Behalf of the Business Community The Champion for Business award symbolizes our gratitude for extraordinary efforts by legislators on behalf of the business community. These were the leaders we turned to when the business for Business community needed someone we could depend upon. otes provide tangible evidence of whether a legislator supports the ability of Florida companies to prosper and operate free of overly burdensome state regulation and taxation. It is a valuable tool used by AIF and the business community to determine Vwhich legislators deserve our support. Yet voting records only tell part of the story. A Champion for Business is a legislator who takes a stand for his or her belief in the free-enterprise system, who defies the status quo when it is harmful to our state’s competitive climate and who faces down opponents to the growing prosperity of Florida’s citizens. The Champion for Business is evidence that, in our efforts to let our members and their legislators know who has supported business and who hasn’t, we leave no stone unturned. In our collective wisdom, these legislators are the epitome of what a Champion for Business should be. Whether they proposed an important bill, authored a key amendment, or toiled behind the scenes, these legislators are the ones who made a difference this session. First Street, Suite 1030 Miami, FL 33128 (305) 375-2524 PURPOSE The purpose of this report is to identify Florida State (State) legislators and Miami-Dade County (County) Delegation in the State Legislature that have proposed any of the following types of legislation: Lower tolls on the Turnpike and to reject the imposition of tolls within a toll on the Turnpike. Opposed to having express lanes and the related tolls being charged on the I-95. Proposed legislation to reject tolling on the Palmetto Expressway. METHODOLOGY The Office of the Commission Auditor (OCA) reviewed all the bills in the State Legislature pertaining to the above-mentioned expressways and all the annual reports prepared by the County’s Office of Intergovernmental Affairs (OIA) for a nine-year period, beginning from 2010 to 2019. OCA identified and highlighted all transportation legislation that appeared pertinent to the research, in addition to reviewing relevant legislation currently under consideration in the State Legislature. Finally, we reviewed the voting records in the State Legislature to determine how the legislators voted on each bill.     August 11, 2021 Dear Chairman McDaniel: We are proud to present to you the Report of the Temporary Committee on Election Integrity (“Committee”). We are both honored that you entrusted us to lead this crucial initiative. Over the past six months, the Committee and subcommittees met regularly to review our election processes and the Republican Party’s role within them. We consulted numerous experts, tasked committee members with obtaining feedback from their states, conducted independent research, and deliberated over countless hours to develop this report. We hope our work on the Committee adds another chapter in our proud record as America’s party of voting rights and trustworthy elections. The Committee’s work can be broken down into three main functions. One, we wanted to learn from the past, so a post-mortem of the 2020 election was needed to ensure we could digest the unprecedented challenges and changes to strategize for the future. Two, we studied best policies and practices for election administration in order to make sound recommendations for state legislatures and policymakers. Third, we studied and made recommendations for the RNC’s and state parties’ role in protecting and promoting election transparency and voter integrity. We also want to ensure we recognize properly the work of the 24 Committee members who gave countless hours of their time and who made this report possible. We particularly want to thank our subcommittee chairs Jane Brady, Mark Kahrs, Debra Lamm, and Jason Thompson for their hard work drilling down into key topics. The subcommittees’ work provides a treasure trove of useful and valuable information that the RNC can utilize moving forward.
