Florida’s Clerks and Comptrollers Honor Legislators with 2021 Legislative Awards

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.— Court Clerks & Comptrollers (FCCC) announced this week the recipients of the 2021 Clerk Legislative Awards.

The award recipients are:

• Senate President ( District 10) received the Legislative Champion Award • Speaker of the House (Florida House District 65) received the Legislative Champion Award • Rep. (Florida House District 27), who sponsored House Bill 903 Clerks of the Circuit Court, received the Clerk Legislative Leadership Award • Sen. (Florida Senate District 21), who sponsored Senate Bill 838 Clerks of the Circuit Court, received the Clerk Legislator of the Year Award • Rep. Charles Wesley "Chuck" Clemons, Sr. (Florida House District 21), who sponsored House Bill 31 Clerks of the Court, received the Clerk Legislative Partner Award • Sen. (Florida Senate District 16), who sponsored Senate Bill 382 Clerks of the Court, received the Clerk Legislative Partner Award • Rep. (Florida House District 73) received the Clerk Distinguished Advocate Award • Sen. (Florida Senate District 8) received the Clerk Distinguished Advocate Award

This year’s Clerk Legislative Awards recognize legislative partners for their work with Florida’s Clerks of Court and Comptrollers and FCCC staff to support sound public policy and highlight their leadership during the 2021 Legislative Session in addressing Clerk priority issues and legislation.

“We are extremely grateful for the support of our partners in the ,” said Angelina “Angel” Colonneso, Esq., Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller and 2021-2022 FCCC President. “Senate President Simpson, House Speaker Sprowls, Representative Barnaby, Senator Boyd, Representative Clemons, Senator Hooper, Representative Gregory and Senator Perry are wonderful public servants for Florida, and they are each uniquely aware of our role in local government and the intricacies of the issues we face. forward to continuing to work with them on commonsense solutions that benefit our shared constituents.” Representative Gregory, Senator Hooper and Representative Barnaby received their individual awards during FCCC’s summer conference in June. Clay County Clerk of Court and Comptroller and 2020-2021 FCCC President Tara S. Green presented the award to Representative Gregory. President Colonneso, Clerk Green, Flagler County Clerk and Comptroller and FCCC Legislative Chair Tom Bexley, Martin County Clerk and Comptroller Carolyn Timmann and Pinellas County Clerk and Comptroller Ken Burke, CPA, presented the award to Senator Hooper.

President Colonneso, Clerk Green, Clerk Bexley, Clerk Timmann and Volusia County Clerk of Court Laura E. Roth, Esq., presented the award to Representative Barnaby.

Clerk Bexley, Alachua County Clerk and Comptroller J.K “Jess” Irby, Esq., Marion County Clerk and Comptroller Gregory “Greg” Harrell, Esq., and Putnam County Clerk and Comptroller Matt Reynolds presented the award to Senator Perry on Monday afternoon at the Marion County Courthouse in Ocala, FL.

Clerk Bexley, Clerk Irby, Dixie County Clerk and Comptroller Barbara “Barbie” Higginbotham and Gilchrist County Clerk and Comptroller Todd Newton presented the award to Representative Clemons Monday evening in Newberry, FL.

President Colonneso, Clerk Bexley, Hillsborough County Clerk and Comptroller Cindy Stuart and Sarasota Clerk and Comptroller Karen E. Rushing presented the award to Senator Boyd at the Manatee County Courthouse in Bradenton, FL, Tuesday afternoon.

Senate President Simpson and House Speaker Sprowls will be presented their awards at a later date.
