(2) Congratulates local suppliers and manufacturers for their fast response to the COVID-19 pandemic. (3) Notes under the previous Labor Government, New South Wales lost almost 50,000 manufacturing jobs. (2) Welcomes the announcement that from 1 July 2020, a wider range of small businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic will be able to apply for $3,000 grants to assist with reviving business activity. (3) Commends the Government for its prudent financial management and strong economic performance which have enabled New South Wales to be able to provide greater support to businesses during the COVID-19 crisis than any other state. (Notice given 17 June 2020—lapses 18 September 2020) 1193 SCHOOL SAFTEY SURVEY MS JO HAYLEN to move— That this House: 2177 BUSINESS PAPER Thursday 17 September 2020 (1) Thanks the 3,400 New South Wales parents, carers, teachers, principals and residents who took part in the NSW School Safety Survey that aims to identify road safety issues around New South Wales schools. (2) Notes 36 percent of parents say that unsafe crossings stop them from letting their children walk or ride to school, 12 percent are worried about a lack of footpaths, and 11 percent say a lack of parking and bad driver behaviour makes roads around schools unsafe. (3) Calls on the Government to get serious about road safety around schools and build footpaths, pedestrian crossings, and bike paths to make riding or walking to school a safe option for families across New South Wales. (Notice given 17 June 2020—lapses 18 September 2020) 1194 TINONEE PARKLAND NURSERY MR STEPHEN BROMHEAD to move— That this House: (1) Congratulates Leah and Bernard Hunt from Parkland Nursery at Tinonee on their success in re- establishing their garden nursery business after the recent devastating bushfires in the Manning Valley Region. (2) Notes the business was all but destroyed, yet Leah and Bernard Hunt reinvigorated the business and reemployed their staff of 12 who had lost their jobs and their family income because of the destruction caused by the bushfires. (3) Commends the Government for providing a $75,000 grant to allow the nursery to replace its potting machine, which is an integral part of the business and was identified by Leah and Bernard Hunt as the catalyst to continue their business and retain their staff. (Notice given 17 June 2020—lapses 18 September 2020) 1195 WATER SHARING PLANS MRS HELEN DALTON to move— That this House calls on the Government to delay the signing off of water sharing plans until the following issues are addressed: (1) Basin wide and standardised water metering, measurement, and compliance. (2) All reports and inquiries into water be released and made public, including the Independent Commission Against Corruption inquiry into The Nationals water corruption. (3) The Government develop an adaptive benchmark to determine water extraction. (4) The Government genuinely engage with irrigators and communities to develop water sharing plans that are fit-for-purpose. (5) The Government engage an independent study into the South Australian Lower Lakes and release the study to the public.
