She It is my privilege to welcome you to the Third Annual Illinois Women’s Conference. This year’s theme is “People, Purpose, & Pas- sion: The Pathway to Success.” Networking opportunities and learning crucial business skills are highly important to building a demonstrates what means in supporting her clients and building a diverse “We Live Service” successful career, and it is no less true for business women. The way we do business has been drastically changing over the last fifty team. years, and women have come to the fore-front of what it means to do better, more diverse business. As we move towards the future, it is obvious to me that women will be a cornerstone to how successful business is conducted, and it is my hope that the Illinois Women’s Conference can be a place for women to learn essential skills necessary to achieve greatness. Nadine and the National Diversity Council award winners demonstrate the value of developing diverse leaders and providing mentors for young women in insurance. The purpose of this day-long conference is three fold. First, the conference is obviously a great place for professional development. The list of excellent speakers and the various sessions on issues pertaining to women will definitely give tremendous insight into what it means to be a successful woman. Second, the conference is about Illinois Women. Open dialogue is essential for progress. Third, the conference is all about the future of women in Illinois. Giving Illinois women the tools and skills necessary to build themselves up and become successful in turn helps Illinois as a whole to be successful. During the first years COUNTRY Financial of the Clinton Administration, Ms. Myers explained the actions of the new president to a vigilant press corps and to the nation. She earned the respect of both with her sharp political instincts, sense of humor and ability to explain complex subjects in straightforward language. Ms. Myers brings the same sense of clarity and humor to her speeches that she brought to the White House briefing room, and she talks candidly about the players in Washington and the world of politics. She is uniquely qualified to comment on the complex dynamics at work in the relationship between the president and the press. She also speaks personally and eloquently about the issues facing women in Washington and in leadership positions of all kinds. In other words, it’s not about political correctness; it’s about self interest. Since leaving the White House, Ms. Myers has worked as a political analyst, commentator and writer. She is currently a Contributing Editor to Vanity Fair magazine and a frequent guest on broadcast and cable television networks. Ms. Myers was also an original consul- tant to the NBC series, The West Wing, and contributed story lines and technical advice throughout the show’s long, prizewinning run. Before joining the Clinton presidential campaign in 1991, Ms. Myers worked on a variety of local, state and national campaigns. She served as press secretary for Dianne Feinstein in her 1990 bid for governor, and worked on the presidential campaigns of Governor Michael S. Dukakis and Vice President Walter F. Mondale. She also worked on the staffs of Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley and California State Senator Art Torres. Ms. Myers is a 1983 graduate of Santa Clara University. She lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband Todd S. McDonalds Community Development In 2002, Kate was promoted to anchor Live at Five at KATV and, in 2003, she also added Chan- Fifth-Third Bank nel 7 News at 6 p.m. and Channel 7 News nightside to her anchoring duties. While at KATV, Kate reported on 9/11 from Ground Zero in New York and presented stories about Arkansans who had lost loved ones during the tragedy. She covered the presidential run of Gen. Wesley Clark and the opening of the Clinton Presiden- tial Library which won the station a regional Emmy award. She also reported a series of stories from Honduras on the charitable work of the Arkansas based non-profit Heifer International. Before joining NBC5 Chicago, Jiggetts served as a reporter and fill-in anchor for WLVI-TV (Boston’s CW). Bridget Ray Tina M. Tabacchi Vice President, National Partner Lauren graduated cum laude from Harvard University and she is a graduate of Stevenson High Jones Day School in Lincolnshire. She was born in Chicago. Accounts Allstate Lauren’s first on-air job was as an anchor and reporter for the award-winning “Channel One News” in Los Angeles. The daily 12-minute newscast is sent via satellite to 12,000 middle and high schools nationwide. She covered national news and reported from the United Nations, NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Hurricane Isabel and the Super Bowl. Jiggetts began her broadcasting career in the public affairs office at MTV Studios in New York City, where she worked on the company’s anti-discrimination campaign. Charlene Stubbs Joan Richards V.P. In 2007, Lauren was the recipient of the Community Partnership Award from Spertus College.
