ASSET MANAGEMENT FINANCE LLC, New York City Vice Chairman & Founder 2009 - 2012 President & CEO 2003 - 2009 A private investment firm focused exclusively on the asset management industry. Founded in 2003 to address the unique capital needs of investment management firms while preserving their independence, growth and long-term viability. Made passive, minority investments in asset managers in which management retained majority economics and complete operational autonomy. AMF utilized flexible investment structures tailored to a company’s specific needs and centered around substantial alignment of incentives with management. Investment firm (not a fund) backed by a strong institutional shareholder base: Credit Suisse, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire and National Bank Financial. AMF invested in 21 managers (totaling $80 billion in AUM), representing approximately $800 million of committed capital across a broad range of firms including alternative managers, traditional long-only, wealth management and private equity in the U.S., Europe and Australia. Majority interest was sold to Credit Suisse in August, 2008.

UNITED ASSET MANAGEMENT CORPORATION, Boston 1980 - 2000 Chairman, President & CEO I founded this investment management holding company in 1980 and continued as its CEO for almost twenty years. The total amount of equity capital raised was under $80 million (1981 – 1986). UAM grew, through over 50 acquisitions, to $200 billion in assets under management, $1 billion in annual revenues, over $200 million of cash earnings, a New York Stock Exchange listing and a stock market value (after regular dividends and $650 million of share buybacks) of more than $1.5 billion. UAM was sold in September, 2000 to Old Mutual, Plc.

PUTNAM INVESTMENTS, Boston 1967 – 1980 CEO & President I began as Manager of the George Putnam Fund (a balanced ), became Director of Research (1968), Chief Investment Officer (1970), President (1975), and CEO (1977). Putnam’s assets under management grew more than five-fold during the bear market decade of the 1970’s. I left in 1980 to found United Asset Management.

ANCHOR CORPORATION, Elizabeth, N. J. 1964 - 1967 Assistant Fund Manager & Analyst A mutual fund management company. I began as an Analyst following chemical and drug stocks but eventually became an Assistant Fund Manager of Diversified Investment Fund (a balanced fund), serving as Fund Manager during the extended illness of the regular manager.

MAY AND GANNON, INC., Boston 1961 – 1964 Analyst This firm was an Over-the-Counter (now NASDAQ) trading firm. I was an Analyst following New England based OTC companies. Primary emphasis was on technology and other growth industries. ______
