Rajiv Popat Visit

Thursday 4th October 2018

Students from all year groups were invited to a talk given by Rajiv Popat, Reporter and Journalist for ITV Central.

Rajiv has worked as a radio and television journalist in the Midlands for more than 20 years. As a reporter, Rajiv has covered a variety of stories for regional and national broadcasters including ITV News Central, ITN, Good Morning Britian (formerly GMTV) and Channel 5 News.

He is passionate about the Midlands, a region where he has lived for most of his life and particularly Leicester, where he has established excellent contacts within the local community.

He gave a fascinating talk about his career in journalism and the technological changes over the years.

Students were invited to take part in a question and answer session and some were given the opportunity to look more closely at the recording equipment he had brought along.

We hope to invite Rajiv to visit us again in the future.

GCSE Dance Trip Swan Lake at the Curve Theatre

Thursday 4th October 2018

GCSE Dance students in Year 9, Year 10 and Year 11 visited the Curve to watch a live ballet performance of Swan Lake by Matthew Bourne.

Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake was first staged at Sadler’s Wells theatre in London in 1995 and has been performed all over the world. The story is based on the Russian romantic ballet Swan Lake and is best known for having the traditionally female parts of the swans danced by men.

It was a truly amazing performance.

Our students’ behaviour, as always, was impeccable. They were a credit to themselves and the school.
