GRAHAM WALKER FILM MUSIC PRODUCER / MUSIC PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR Graham is one of Britain’s most experienced and active Music Producers specialising in the international film music business. Education Graham studied music at Kneller Hall, the Royal Military School of Music and the Guildhall School of Music in London after which he began his career in the music production business. Graham is also a good musician; a trumpet player. Graham is one of Britain’s most experienced and active Music Producers specialising in the international film music business. After a distinguished career as Musical Director of Yorkshire Television, Head of Music for Granada Television and Head of Film Music Production for Lord Grade’s ITC Films, Graham then became freelance. The first 6 years of Graham’s career were spent at the world famous KPM Production Music Library; that was the day job! The night job was arranging and conducting sessions for various ‘pop’ and variety stars’ singles and albums such as Dickie Henderson, Roy Castle, Nicko McBrain (the drummer from Iron Maiden) and the number 1 hit ‘Grandad’ performed by Clive Dunn(!) plus score takedowns for the BBC’s ‘Top of the Pops’ for US groups such as ‘The Four Tops,’ Diana Ross and The Supremes,’ Otis Redding,’ ‘Marvin Gaye’ and many others. Over the years Graham has acquired extensive expertise in recording throughout Europe and beyond. CLIFF EIDELMAN SELECTED CREDITS BIG MIRACLE (2012) HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU (2009) SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS (2005) ONE TRUE THING (1998) STAR TREK VI: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY (1991) BIOGRAPHY Composer Cliff Eidelman’s breakthrough came with his score ‘Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country’ (1991), a stylish and powerful score that elicited a great deal of attention and acclaim. ‘Star Trek VI’ continues to not only be a favorite among fans but is rated in the top 30 best film scores on Filmtracks.com, which has a viewer rating of 1,500 film scores spanning several decades. By the age of 24, Eidelman had composed a number of epic symphonic scores including the powerful Holocaust drama ‘Triumph of the Spirit’ (1989) and ‘Christopher Columbus’ (1992). Eidelman first ventured into comedy with back-to-back films ‘Crazy People’ (1990) and ‘Delirious’ (1990). Later, he explored different approaches, often using a pared down orchestra, chamber orchestra, or a few chosen instruments to capture the intricacies of such character driven films as: ‘Untamed Heart’ (1992), ‘Leap of Faith’ (1992), ‘A Simple Twist of Fate’ (1994), ‘Now and Then’ (1995), the highest rated HBO film ‘If These Walls Could Talk’ (1996), ‘One True Thing’ (1998), ‘Witness Protection’ (1999), ‘An American Rhapsody’ (2001), the IMAX film’ Ocean Men’ (2001), ‘Harrison’s Flowers’ (2001), ‘Sexual Life’ (2004), ‘The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants’ (2005), ‘Open Window’ (2006), ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’ (2009) and ‘Big Miracle’ (2012) which is Eidelman’s fifth collaboration with director Ken Kwapis. Eidelman’s concert works include Night in the Gallery, which was written for chamber ensemble and inspired by masterwork paintings, a large-scale new Symphony for Orchestra and Two Pianos and The Five Tales, a set of new piano pieces. -

There are film music fans all over the world tonight who wish they could be occupying the seat you are currently in, but you are the lucky ones. What a night this is going to be! The forces that have come together for the show you are about to see are remarkable. There is so much more history represented in tonight’s program than merely the last 35 years. This evening is really about the entire history of film music. We’ll be enjoying the performances of a select few … some of my best friends, who just happen to the masters of modern film music. And we’ll hear the music of those I dearly miss … legends of the art form — the immortals. As I’ve said before, the great thing about celebrating Varèse Sarabande history is that, for us, the spotlight is always on the composers. Tonight is, without question, about them. All of them! We could never represent everyone. That’s been the hardest part about putting together this programme. I started with a list of well over 1500 scores — closer to 2000, actually. -

This study focuses on the role of the fanfare from The Original Series title theme in foregrounding, concealing, or initiating Trek’s ideological tensions. By analyzing how the fanfare is complicit in Trek’s narrative and philosophical efforts—that is, its part in scoring a futuristic utopia— I uncover continuities and discontinuities within the franchise’s fifty years of production. Star Trek has become one of the largest brands of the twenty-first century: thirteen films, six television series, interactive concert performances, and thousands of fan creations. The contributions of the fanfare, a near-constant presence, are both lacking in study and vital to a more nuanced history of Trek’s growth.
