ATHLETICS Four Sign to Play with Division One Schools Four pitchers from the WNCC baseball team signed letters of intent Wednesday, on the first day of the National Letter of Intent signing period, to play for NCAA Division One schools next year. Justin Garcia signed with University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Dan Grubbs with University of New Mexico, and Stephen Sauer and Cole Rohrbough with Arizona State University. Congratulations! Ken Bartlett of Bartlett Architecture in Reno won the top prize, a one-year membership at Red Hawk Golf Course, a $4,000 value, and $1,000 cash. “Coach Dennis Banks deserves credit for organizing a great tournament,” Head Coach DJ Whittemore said. “We are thankful so many people in the community are interested in supporting our team. These funds will allow us to play some of the top teams in the nation during our non-conference season.”

COLLEGE CORNER HELP KEEP SOMEONE WARM THIS WINTER It’s time to clean out the closets and bring old coats and jackets to the campus for the annual FISH coat drive. All donated coats will be cleaned and repaired if necessary by Mercury Cleaners and then delivered to Friends in Service Helping. CARSON BUS SPRING SEMESTER PASSES AVAILABLE SOON New semester-long JAC bus rider passes for WNCC students will be available the first week of December in the WNCC Bookstore. The passes will cost $75 for the entire spring semester and allow for unlimited rides on JAC for WNCC students. Monthly passes and ten-ride punch cards are also available.

VENUS CHECKS OUT MERCURY Venus Cederstrom looks through a telescope at Mercury as it transits the sun Wednesday. The Jack C. Davis Observatory was open to the public for this natural planetary occurrence.

EARTHQUAKE POSTERS ON DISPLAY Earthquake information posters prepared by Geology 100 students are available for viewing near Cedar 308 and Bristlecone 325 at WNCC Carson City, and outside the science lab hallway at WNCC Douglas. Volcano themed posters will replace the earthquake posters next week.
