Ferdinand von BOTHMER

Ferdinand von Bothmer was born in Munich and studied stage direction at the College of Music in Vienna, which he finished successfully with a master degree; until 2002 he studied there also singing and continued his private singing studies with Nicolai Gedda, Michael Pabst, Dietrich Fischer Dieskau and Vicenzo Bello.

He was member of Volksoper Vienna , where he sang Tito, Tamino, Ottavio, Ramiro, Rosillon, Almaviva.

Guest contracts brought him to Washington , Rome and Scala Milano as Jaquino, to , Turin , Brussels and Zurich as Tamino, to Tokyo as Almaviva, to Düsseldorf and Hamburg as Chateauneuf, to Nancy as Ottavio and to Wiesbaden as .

More recently he sang "Die Schuldigkeit des ersten Gebots" by Mozart, "Ermione" and the title role of Rossini’s “” in Pesaro , Leopold in a new production of "La Juive" and Tamino in Stuttgart , Leopold and Almaviva at Staatsoper Vienna , Narraboth in Las Palmas , and Rossini’s “Otello” in Tokyo .

He changed into a heavier repertoire singing Erik with Mo. Kuhn in Erl , Giasone in "Medea in Corinto" by Mayr at Staatsoper Munich and Cherubini’s "Koukourgi" in Klagenfurt .

He was heard as Max and Erik in Stuttgart , as Pollione in Pamplona , as with Mo. Kuhn in Erl , as Zamoro in Verdi’s "Alzira" in Toblach , South Tyrol, with "Il transito di San Giuseppe" by Pergolesi in Cracow and with "Johanna auf dem Scheiterhaufen" in Munich and sang Lohengrin in Vilnius , the world premiere of "Gehen:Bleiben" in Hamburg , "Giovanna di Scozia" by Mayr in Bergamo , Manrico, Alfredo in "Traviata", Don Ottavio und Froh in Erl , “Matthäuspassion” at Maggio Musicale in Florence , a new production "Semele" in Munich , Lohengrin in Bratislava , Manrico in Riga , "Die Feen" in Leipzig , Dvorak's "Alfred" in Prague and "Philemon und Baucis" in Monte Carlo .

Recent and future contracts until 2020/21 include Lohengrin in Vilnius , "Königin von Saba" in Freiburg , Loge, Froh, Stolzing, Arnold in "Gugliemo Tell", Pirro in “Ermione”, Parsifal and Radames in Erl , Lohengrin in Bratislava , „Verdi “ in Stuttgart , “” and Braunfels‘ "Szenen aus dem Leben der heiligen Johanna" in Cologne , Hans Gal's " der Nacht" in Osnabrück , Offizier in "Cardillac" in Florence , “La Wally” in Bozen and “Cardillac” in Antwerp and Gent .

Ferdinand von Bothmer is frequently appearing in concerts of Händel, Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini, Bach, Mendelssohn Bartholdy and has been working with conductors like Abbado , Biondi , Bolton , Fischer zu Guttenberg , Hengelbrock , Kuhn , Muti , Rilling , Zedda.
