Jets Send Three Players Back to Moose Moose Mightier Than the Wild
Winnipeg Free Press https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/manitoba-moose/jets-send-three-players- back-to-moose-469247423.html?k=Sc4PAa Jets send three players back to Moose By: Jeff Hamilton With the Winnipeg Jets beginning a league-mandated five-day break, the team has assigned three players to its American Hockey League affiliate. Goaltender Michael Hutchinson, and forwards Brendan Lemieux and Jack Roslovic have been sent back to the Manitoba Moose, who continue their season with a game this afternoon against the Iowa Wild. It’s not clear at this point if any of the three will be ready to play in the 2 p.m. game. Hutchinson joined the Jets Friday as an emergency call-up after backup goalie Steve Mason fell ill and returned to Winnipeg for further evaluation. Hutchinson has a 14-2-4 record with the Moose this season after being assigned there by the Jets prior to the start of the NHL regular season. He leads the AHL with a .942 save percentage and boasts the third-best goals against average, at 1.94. Lemieux joined the Jets on Jan. 8 and played one game after an injury to forward Shawn Matthias — a 4-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild Saturday night. The 21-year-old has played in eight games with Winnipeg this year and has one goal. Roslovic, 20, was recalled by the Jets on Dec. 31 and played in four games during his stint. He returns to the AHL seventh in league scoring with 35 points (15G, 20A) in 31 games with the Moose. -

Postgame Quotes Nashville Predators Vs. Buffalo Sabres January 18, 2020
Postgame Quotes Nashville Predators vs. Buffalo Sabres January 18, 2020 Nashville Predators Quotes Head Coach John Hynes On his thoughts of the team’s performance from start to finish… I give a lot of credit to the players. We didn’t necessarily like what our game was like against Anaheim. I addressed some things yesterday and worked on some things. These games are always a little bit iffy because there is a break. I thought that the mental focus, the effort, the intensity level, the commitment to play the game the right way, managing the puck, puck battles, shot blocking, defensive structure – those things were all there. One of the biggest things we wanted to see was our intensity level in the offensive zone rise for extended time, grind the team down, getting more net-front traffic and pucks to the net. We did that tonight. When you play that way, you have to play hard. You have to be committed. Tonight, we had a committed effort and got rewarded for it. On the team's response after losing in Buffalo… The response was better and that's another area that we talked about, even after our press conference after the Anaheim game, was about mental toughness and fortitude and push back in your game and that's what it takes to be a to be a team, that you have to earn your confidence. We went out and even though we were down, the way that we were playing, that gives you confidence that if we stay with it and stick with it and don't veer off it, that we'll be able to get another one and we were right in the game. -

Injuries Continue to Plague Jets Seven Wounded Players Missed Saturday's Game
Winnipeg Free Press https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/hockey/jets/injuries-continue-to-keep-jets-in-sick- bay-476497963.html?k=QAPMqC Injuries continue to plague Jets Seven wounded players missed Saturday's game By: Mike McIntyre WASHINGTON — Is there a doctor in the house? It’s been a common refrain for the Winnipeg Jets lately, as they just can’t seem to get close to a full, healthy lineup. Seven players were out due to injury in Saturday’s 2-1 loss in Philadelphia. Here’s what we know about all of them, with further updates expected today as the Jets return to action with a morning skate and then their game in Washington against the Capitals. Mark Scheifele has missed two games with a suspected shoulder injury, and there will be no rushing him back into action. He’s considered day-to-day at this point, and coach Paul Maurice had said last week he was a possibility to play either tonight, or tomorrow in Nashville. But don’t bet on it. Defenceman Toby Enstrom is battling a lower-body issue which kept him out for four games, saw him return in New Jersey last Thursday and then be back out on Saturday. Maurice said it’s a nagging thing that can change day-to-day, so his status is very much a question mark. Defenceman Dmitry Kulikov missed Saturday’s game after getting hurt Thursday in New Jersey. Maurice hasn’t said how long he could be out, only that it’s upper-body. Goalie Steve Mason has been sent back to Winnipeg for further testing on a lower-body injury he suffered late in the game against the New York Rangers last Tuesday, which was his first game back from his second concussion of the season. -

Postgame Quotes Nashville Predators Vs. Philadelphia Flyers
Postgame Quotes Nashville Predators vs. Philadelphia Flyers Predators Quotes Head Coach Peter Laviolette On Viktor Arvidsson’s return from injury and the recent injuries… The injuries have been substantial, it’s not a two-game thing, or a five- to seven-day thing; they’ve been substantial injuries. With that comes recovery of the body and also the conditioning and the timing of the game. I thought he came back and played a good first game and then from there, I think it’s been a build-up where he’s tried to get better, he’s pushing himself, you see how important he is out there tonight with his speed, and his work ethic, his ability to score goals and make a difference in the game. The line was really good, especially in the second and third period. On Juuse Saros trending in the right direction… Well tonight he was terrific, let’s be honest. He made all the ones he was supposed to, and then he made some ‘wow’ saves in there as well where they got behind us. Recently we’ve played a lot of teams really strong off the rush. Washington, Dallas, the Rangers and I think Philadelphia, a couple times here, they’re a rush team. They’re able of attacking, they fly guys capable of getting behind you, and they did. We needed saves there and he made them. On how the team can continue their recent success… I’m usually pretty honest, I told you that the two losses before the win, I hated the result.
