Game Design Experience

October 2010 - Present Turbine - WB Games Needham, MA Designer – Dungeons & Dragons Online; Unannounced Multiplayer Action Strategy Game  Consistently delivered design and implementation for vital showcase quest content.  Led design of the Random Encounter system, and designed over 60 Random Encounters.  Designed and directed production of The King’s Forest, DDO’s largest landscape area.  Played a key role in the design and implementation of the “Challenge” systems and content.  Scripted AI behavior, AI spawns, drama sequences, puzzles, and devious traps.  Wrote flavor text for levels, items, and dialogue for NPCs and other AIs.

February 2009 - October 2009 Irrational Games Quincy, MA Level Designer – Bioshock Infinite  Constructed prototype multiplayer game levels and modes in Unreal Engine 3.  Designed multiplayer character abilities, weapons, rewards, and advancement paths.  Contributed to the design and tuning of several AI's and player classes.  Prototyped systems for telegraphing DLC.  Scripted dynamic level-changing events in Unreal Kismet for the multiplayer game.

March 2008 - Jan 2009 Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment Mesa, AZ World Builder – Worlds  Utilized Unreal Engine 3 to design and construct dozens of interior and open world spaces.  Constructed PVP arenas.  Directed the flow of gameplay via unique cover system.

August 2005 - October 2007 Turbine Westwood, MA Associate Content Designer – Dungeons & Dragons Online  Designed, built, and released over 20 levels, including both interior spaces and landscapes.  Scripted events, AI encounters, boss AIs, puzzles, and traps.  Constructed and beautified environments with deco and lighting.

Awards, Accolades and Other Interesting Tidbits:  Familiar with Unreal, CryEngine, and able to quickly learn proprietary development tools no matter how arcane.  Consistently awarded scores of 85+/100 on content, by Turbine’s internal Qualitative team.  Presented and worked with Industry visionary Ken Rolston on 3 new game pitches based on existing Warner Bros IPs.  Winner of Turbine’s Annual Chili Cook-off in 2011 and 2013.  Winner of Turbine’s Annual Halloween Costume Contest 2013.  Once wrote a screenplay based on the popular 1980 text adventure game Zork.
