State Competition was held March 2-5, 2016, in Houston, Texas. Haltom High School’s Future Business Leaders of America Advisor is Michelle Heckathorn. All Students Succeed in a future they create. DECA District Competition was held January 16, 2016, in Haltom City, Texas. Haltom High School winners were: Blake Brewer, Food Marketing Series; David Gamez, Accounting Applications; Arusha Herath, Accounting Applications; Brigido Hernandez, Business Services Marketing; Bradlee Michael, Accounting Applications; Mandy Nguyen, Accounting Applications and Maribel Velasquez, Accounting Applications. State Competition was held February 25-27, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. Haltom High School’s DECA Advisor is Gary Lejarzar. Skills USA Regional Competition was held February 26-27, 2016, in Waco, Texas. The Haltom High School winners were: Alyssa Parks, Career Pathways and Madison Vaden, Career Pathways. State Competition was held March 25-28, 2016, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Haltom High School’s Skills USA Advisor is Chelly Sturgell. Haltom Robotics Haltom Robotics attended the Cowtown B.E.S.T Robotics Competition on October 22 2016 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Haltom Robotics won 5th place and received the best T-Shirt Design Award. Team members included: Maribel Velasquez, Sara Zatar, Angelica Carey, David Vo, Nischal Shrestha, Laksha Parajuil, Luis Rosales, Colton Lyons, Lance Merk- le, Matthew Ritchie, Brian Leblond-Normandin, Chris Merkle and Greg Lopez. Haltom Robotics attended the First Robotics Dallas Regional Competition in Irving, Texas on March 23-26, 2016. Haltom Robotics won 3rd place and received the creativity award. Team members included: Maribel Velasquez, David Vo, Nischal Shrestha, Laksha Parajuli, Luis Rosales, Colton Lyons, Lance Merkle, Matthew Ritchie and Brain Le- blond-Normandin Haltom Robotics attended the First Robotics Lone Start Regional Competition in Hou- ston, Texas on April 7-9, 2016. Haltom Robotics qualified as a Quarter Finalist and received the “Highest Rookie Seed Award” and “Rookie Inspiration Award”. Team members included: Maribel Velasquez, David Vo, Nischal Shrestha, Laksha Parajuli, Luis Rosales, Colton Lyons, Lance Merkle, Matthew Ritchie, Brain Leblond-Normandin and Alyssa Newman. Haltom Robotics Advisor is Chris Copeland. Yearbook & Journalism Haltom High School's yearbook and journalism team was very successful in 2015-2016. Students earned the following awards: The winners in Quill and Scroll International Honorary Society's Yearbook Excellence Contest were: Hayley Bridges, Sweepstakes Winner, Clubs or Organizations Spread; Kristal Saikho, Sweepstakes Winner, Academic Photo; Giovanna Villalpando, Sweepstakes Winner, Sports Action Photo National Winner, Dana McCurdy , Fea- ture Photo and Cemal Quershi, National Winner, Clubs or Organizations Spread and National Winner, Theme Development. Haltom High School’s year book staff won the Gold Medalist Critique from Columbia Scholastic Press Association Critique and All American Rating with four marks of distention from the National Scholastic Press Association Haltom Yearbook competed at the Journalism Education Association/National Scholastic Press Association (JEA/NSPA) Convection in Los Angles, California, April 14-17, 2016 winners were: Dana McCurdy, Student Life Photography Portfolio; Kristal Saikho, Clubs Copy/ Caption Writing; Ammysadday Hernandez, Academics Copy/Caption Writing and Lacey Powers, Cover/ End sheet design. Haltom Yearbook also won the Peacemaker Finalist Award. Haltom Yearbook competed at the Interscholastic League Press Conference State Convention (ILPC), April 16- 17 in Arlington, Texas. Haltom Yearbook received the following awards and recognitions for their 2015 year- book: Silver Star Award, Tops in Texas, Theme Copy, and Sports Action Photo by Giovanna Villalpando. State Competition was held April 7-9, 2016, in Houston, Texas. Richland High School FCCLA won the treasurer award and the most committed chapter award. Richland High School’s Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America Advisors are Elizabeth Lundy and Tana Taylor. Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering Divisional Competition was held February 6, 2016 in Fort Worth, Texas. The Richland High School winners were: Siva Sarah, High School Algebra I; Tin Ha, High School Algebra II; Grace DiSilva, High School Geometry; Arianne Alvarez, High School Pre-Calculus; Alexander Ban, High School Calculus; David Serrato, High School Chemistry; Shaikh Sahib, Comprehensive Science and Jose Garcia, Team Engineering Design. Upperclassmen are housed on the first floor, allowing for more freedom and unstructured time, while the lower grade levels are on the second floor for a more structured, controlled environment in closer proximity to teachers. Multiple spaces for informal learning are incorporated throughout the building. Prosper High School New High School and Indoor Practice Facility Prosper Independent School District Prosper High School is the modern American High School - Texas style. This project is a $113.5 million, 590,000-square-foot behemoth, complete with a medical tech lab, a restaurant-worthy kitchen, a greenhouse, a broadcast studio, and an indoor football practice facility. Working under tight deadlines, our team completed the new high school along with a new sports arena, indoor practice space, and natatorium. This is the largest project to date for Prosper Independent School District.

    Dr. Shelly Butler has spent the last 25 years as a science teacher, head coach, assistant principal and principal in the DFW Area. In July of 2013, she assumed the responsibilities as principal of Mansfield Legacy High School. Dr. Butler began her career at Keller High School in Keller ISD as a chemistry teacher and an assistant Girls Track/Basketball coach during the 1994-95 school year. In the fall of 1995, Shelly joined the staff at Keller Fossil Ridge High School as a charter faculty member, science teacher and girls coach for the next 9 years. She served as the Head Girls Track and Cross Country coach producing three team district championships, along with several individual regional and state qualifiers. Shelly served as an assistant principal at Haltom High School in Birdville ISD from 2004 to 2008. In January 2008, Shelly assumed the helm of Parkview Elementary School in Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD as the principal until June 2011. Shelly joined Mansfield ISD in June 2011 as the principal of Rogene Worley Middle School where she served until June 2013. Shelly has led the faculty and staff of Mansfield Legacy High School for the past 6 school years. Shelly earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Grambling State University (Louisiana) and her Master of Science in Biology from Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. She earned her Principal Certification from the University of North Texas in 2004 and a Doctor of Education degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas in 2010. She holds a Texas State Board of Educator Certification for composite science, principal and superintendent.

This year, August 11 kicked off the start of the 2010-11 school year and it was like a breath of fresh air for St. Andrew Catholic School teachers, students and parents. Mr. Charles Llewellyn, who officially assumed duties as the school’s principal in July 2010, stood front and center on the steps and warmly welcomed the students. His genuine enthusiasm is contagious and was echoed by new assistant principals, Tracy Macfarlane and Albert Herrera, as they moved through the school smiling and greeting more than 700 students in grades K-8. Llewelyn himself is a product of a Catholic education, born and raised in Fort Worth and the youngest of eight children, he attended St. Rita Catholic School. He attended The University of Texas at Arlington on a baseball scholarship and graduated with a BA in Communication in 1993 and also from Texas Wesleyan with a Master of Arts in Teaching in 1996. This facility is designed with two 3-story academic wings that contain the majority of the departmental classrooms, collaboration areas, and instructional spaces. A dedicated 9th grade area of the campus with instructional space for 900 students is located on the second floor of the academic wing of the school. The first floor is home to the primary administration offices, the Learning Commons, Performing Arts Center, a Dining Commons, a centralized Kitchen, CTE spaces, Fine Arts, Physical Education, Athletic, and related support spaces. Adams Middle School (Currently Under Construction) New Middle School No. 6 Northwest Independent School District The district’s sixth middle school will feature an interior courtyard, collaboration areas, turf fields, and an athletic and fine arts wings. The new two story campus contains approximately 211,143 square feet and it is located across the street from V.R. Eaton High School and Carl E. Schluter Elementary School on Eagle Boulevard in Haslet. The campus is expected to open in August 2018. Lakewood Elementary School (Currently Under Construction) Expansion and Renovation Dallas Independent School District Our firm provided structural engineering services for the extensive addition and renovation of Lakewood Elementary School. Our team designed the new 2-story, 45,000 square foot classroom addition, a new library, new cafeteria and kitchen areas, as well as a new enclosed pedestrian bridge spanning from the new classroom wing to the existing building.
