Haltom Robotics attended the Cowtown B.E.S.T Robotics Competition on October 22 2016 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Haltom Robotics won 5th place and received the best T-Shirt Design Award. Haltom Robotics attended the First Robotics Dallas Regional Competition in Irving, Texas on March 23-26, 2016. Haltom Robotics won 3rd place and received the creativity award. Haltom Robotics attended the First Robotics Lone Start Regional Competition in Hou- ston, Texas on April 7-9, 2016. Haltom Robotics qualified as a Quarter Finalist and received the “Highest Rookie Seed Award” and “Rookie Inspiration Award”. The Birdville Center of Technology and Advanced Learning Horticultural Science Program had a successful year of growth in the 2015-2016 school year, which included the following:

Organizing the arrangements for three large banquets including the Birdville Outstanding Citizens Banquet, Birdville Teacher of the Year Banquet and Birdville Foundation Banquet.

Holding a successful fall and spring plant sale

Over 34 students received Level 1 Floral Design Certification through the Texas State Flo- rist Association. This certification allowed students the opportunity to work at the Flower Ranch and Market Street Inc.

Regional Competition was held February 26-27, 2016, in Waco, Texas. The winners were: Eric French, Residential Wiring; Grant Young, Land Surveying; Gian Baez, Land Surveying, Jorge Hernandez and Andres Frias Building Maintenance.

State Competition was held March 25-28, 2016, in Corpus Christi, Texas. The winner was Andres Frias, Building Maintenance.

National Competition was held June 20-24, 2015, in Louis- ville, Kentucky.

Summer Hoffman was also elected as a Texas Skills District 4 Officer.

Smithfield Middle School

Engineering Club

The Smithfield Middle School Engineering Club competed in the Visioneering contest on Febru- ary 7, 2016 at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.

The Smithfield Middle School Engineering Club won the “Engineering Excellence” award for their water treatment system for the Hoima area of Uganda.

Members of the Smithfield Middle School Engineering Club are: Alex Cano, Emma Hillard, Gi- na Plagianos, India Wright, Isaiah Mueller, Riley Sargent, Natalie Lynch and Greg Pekur- ney.
