Christian Crowson, local tenor, sang at Auburn University on Saturday, March 28th. The competition involved singers ages 14-30 years old from Georgia, Florida and Alabama and was sponsored by the National As- sociation of the Teachers of Singing (NATS). A student of Mr. Dick Bur- rell, Christian placed second in the category 3rd and 4th Year High School Boys. To enter the competition, students must have studied one (or more) years with a professional voice instructor at the High School, College or Graduate School level. Singers must prepare three contrast- ing classical songs for the competition, one of which must be in Italian. For the competition, Crowson sang “Non Posso Disperar”by daLuca, Robertson’s “The Jolly Roger” and “Widmung” by Schumann. In 2014 Crowson entered the same NATS competition when held at Columbus State University and won the Musical Theatre category in the same re- gion in the Beginning Boys category. Less than two days prior to his placement at Auburn this year, Crowson competed at Valdosta State for State Literary with the team from Trinity Christian School and won Boys Soloist for GISA AAA for the second year in a row. All competitors who place first, second or third are invited to apply to compete at the Nation- al level, which will be held in Greensboro, S.C. Of the 700 potential com- petitors, only 168 are invited to participate in the National competition. The son of Rev.
