There is a strong section of the 1898-1908 Pictorials including items illustrated in Derek's erudite book on the subject. Lot 884 884 C A- 1868 cover to "Royal Military College/Farnborough Station/Hants" with Perf 12½ 3d dull violet pair (the right-hand unit with Jumped Perfs at the Base) tied by 'NZ/DUNEDIN/JA18/68 - O ' duplex, 'FARNBORO-STATION/MR29/68' arrival b/s. [We can't find any reference to RMC Farnborough but a major Royal Air Force base is located there] 400T 885 C B 1893 complete Printing & Stationery Department parcel label with 'OFFICIAL/[crown]/FREE' indicium at upper-right & superb 'PRINTED MATTER ONLY' h/s in purple, signed "Samuel Goodall" in green, to GB "via Frisco" with faint 'NEW ZEALAND/OFFICIAL PAID' h/s in violet & Wellington squared-circle of 10AU93, a little aged. 150T 886 C/CL A/B 1916-18 covers to Mr PC Fabricius, Apia with Auckland meter cancels x3 comprising ½d on window-face envelope, 1½d single and 1½d plus circular 1d added, the latter two on John Burns & Co long covers sealed with ½d 'Auckland Provincial Wounded Fund' labels (one with minor fault), also two covers with KGV 1½d black (both stamps faulty), all with boxed Censor 2 or 3 cachets on face in green or violet, some blemishes but overall fine. (5) 200T Lot 887 887 C A- 1934 England-Australia AAMC #438 MacRobertson Air Race cover to New Zealand delayed en route with KGV Admiral 1d tied 'AUCKLAND/-5MR35/NZ' d/s on eventual arrival, originally endorsed "Mildenhall to Melbourne Centenary Air Race by Tainui" and carried by the DH86 Dragon Rapide 'Tainui' to Persia with pilot JD Hewitt signature on face, subsequently annotated "Bag containing letters lost in Persia just arrived by Imperail Airways QANTAS Empire Airways, rail to Melbourne, boat to NZ" on back initialled by pilot, minor blemishes, most unusual. 300T 888 C A/B 1937-45 covers with Pictorials frankings including 1937 airmail to Germany and another with 'MARINE POST OFFICE /RMS NIAGARA' cds, three taxed with US dues x2 or NZ dues, Middle East Forces with 'EGYPT ... PREPAID' ds x3, various censored items including 1944 to Canada 'NOT FOUND' and 1945 formular Air Letter to Ireland. (12) 300 Ex Lot 889 889 C/CL A/B 1937-47 OHMS covers etc with Pictorials overprinted 'Official' including 2d to Burnham Military Camp with 'TRENTHAM MC' machine cancel, 2d on wrapper to Tasmania, 2½d pair airmail to NSW, 6d & 1/- on air cover to GB, 6d & 1/- on internal parcel tag, 2/- solo franking on 1947 airmail cover to USA, etc, condition variable. Ex Roger Hosking. 500 Ex Lot 891 891 CL A- 1941 "Clipper" cover to the USA with 1/- Bird 2/- Captain Cook & 5/- Arms; and 1946 late fee airmail cover to GB with 1/- Peace, 2/- Captain Cook x3 & 10/- Arms pair + 2d for the late fee. [Goldmining: 18km SE Greymouth] 100 895 S A B1 - 47mm rubber 'DUNEDIN/27JAN1933/PARCELS' complete strike on 2/- Admiral block of 4 (Cat £116+).
