4. ADHD Workshop Kings Lynn

This ADHD workshop is for those living with ADHD and people supporting those with ADHD who would like to learn how to understand the disorder and be better equipped for daily life. be it work, school or in a domestic setting.

Saturday 22nd February 2020 10am-3:00pm

West Norfolk Deaf Association Railway Road Kings Lynn PE30 1NF

This workshop will allow parents and/or any professional working with ADHD, how to understand ADHD by tapping into the world of neurodiversity. Learning ADHD specific techniques and strategies is the answer, in turn improving life when living with ADHD.

What is ADHD? Do we really understand what ADHD is? What are the myths and what is real?

With ADHD having a huge stigma in society we can sometimes struggle to know what’s what. The workshop will look into the symptoms of ADHD/ADD, how they can present, including hyperactivity, anxiety, disorganisation, forgetfulness.

Living with a child/teenager/adult/partner with ADHD is not easy.

Having ADHD or being an ADHD partner or parent can be a challenge, taking incredible patience and strength. Our workshop is specifically about understanding ADHD. Many people understand the basics but we believe this isn’t enough to effectively support the person affected with ADHD.

ADHD children/teenagers/adults perceive things and learn things in very different ways. We need a deeper understanding of ADHD and re frame the way we look at it. This workshop is run by trainers and coaches who are directly affected with & living with ADHD on a day to day basis. Their knowledge and understanding of ADHD is first hand.

The whole day costs £35-00 per person. To book please follow this link https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/adhd-education-parenting-and-carers-workshop-in- association-with-different-minds-uk-tickets-90384605789

7. SCOPE Community Engagement

Scope's Community Engagement programme empowers local people to take action and create change in their local communities. The programme is for disabled people aged between 12 and 65, families, parents and unpaid carers of disabled children. The project is funded by People's Health Trust.

How it works Groups of local people meet once a month at an informal gathering where they can meet new people, propose and develop new projects. Each area has a pot of money to spend on local projects developed by local people. The group takes part in decisions about how to allocate money to projects. Examples of local projects which have been funded include: • improving beach access • sleep workshops for parents • disability awareness training for local shops • art workshops • new support groups • shared work space • a signing choir • accessible allotments. You may want to join something that is already happening, volunteer or start something new. Get in touch if you want to find out more or get involved!

14. Mpower Service to Women

Mpower service to women who have had children removed As part of Ormiston Families’ Connect Programme, Mpower offers a service to women who have had at least one child removed from their care and who need additional support in understanding the reasons behind this. Mpower helps by addressing the issues that led to removal, with the aim to reduce the likelihood of it happening again. Often these women do not feel in a position to seek support through other means. We build a trusting, non- judgemental relationship and help women focus on themselves.

We know that one of the quickest ways to have a positive impact on our local communities, is to fund organisations that are already doing great work and helping them to achieve more. Our Local Community Projects Fund awards grants of up to £2,000 to enable not for profit organisations to do something they otherwise couldn’t afford to. We have six local charity committees which meet regularly throughout England, Scotland and Wales to review applications and award grants. Please carefully read the following guidelines before starting an application.

All projects must support a community of interest, i.e. people who are: Disabled or suffering chronic illness Living in poverty Voluntary carers Homeless people Isolated older people Other demonstrable significant need How to apply: Follow the link at the bottom of this page to be taken to an online application form. 20. SWAN Project

The SWAN project was set up in 2011 in response to the West Norfolk Partnership’s Quality of Life survey, in which young people in the southern neighbourhood said that there was nothing for them to do. After a series of consultations, the SWAN project was set up to cover the whole of the southern neighbourhood, not just Downham Market town. 21. Creative Arts Opportunity

Introducing Blackfield Creatives

Blackfield Creatives CIC is a not-for-profit arts organisation based in King's Lynn which delivers programmes across the region, providing cultural and creative experiences by using different media such as the visual arts and music. We engage with all sections of the community and have a particular interest in working with audiences who may have had limited interaction with the Arts or those who may find themselves in challenging situations where they might find it difficult to express themselves. The Backfields’ team deliver professional quality engagement activities with, to and for the community through exhibitions, performances, workshops and collections. These activities are specifically designed to challenge, stimulate and encourage personal growth and they are open to all ages and abilities. Our aim is to engage with everyone, using the Arts as a way of bringing people together to build relationships, improve mental health and gain a better understanding of those around us.

We work with a range of public, private and third sector organisations, such as local authorities, community groups, charities and schools, to develop cultural and creative programmes and deliver bespoke activities which meet the needs of the local population. The Blackfield Creatives team are the conduit, working in partnership with organisations, providers and artists to deliver successful projects which enhance the lived experiences of the community.

If you would like to talk to us about developing an arts programme for your organisation, please email the team at [email protected] or contact Tim Mann – T: 07400 623699 or Jenny Ward – T: 07752 878587 and we can start the conversation.

37. Problem Gambling Training

GamCare is a national provider of free information, advice and support for anyone affected by problem gambling, and we have recently gained additional funding to deliver a two-year, nationwide Women’s Programme. We know from the calls to our National Gambling Helpline and from our treatment services, that there are women in West Norfolk who are affected by these issues. Many people still think of gambling as a ‘male issue’ yet, in our experience, that’s not the case, and it means that women who are struggling may be less likely to reach out for support.

Could women coming into contact with your service be affected by a gambling problem? Are women you see affected by debt, relationship difficulties, gender-based violence, housing issues, depression, anxiety, feelings of isolation or suicidality? If they are, there is a chance these issues could be the result of a gambling problem – whether their own or someone else’s.

40. Working With Parental Conflict

There is a large body of evidence that shows that conflict between parents can have a negative impact on children’s long-term mental health and future life chances. When conflict between parents is frequent, intense and poorly resolved, it puts children’s mental health and long-term outcomes at risk.

If you are in contact with parents/ carers as part of your role and want to be able to: • Understand the impact of parental conflict on children and young people • Recognise parental conflict • Support parents /carers to understand triggers to conflict and the impact on their children • Have access to practical resources and tools to use when working with parents in conflict Then this is appropriate training for you.

48. Review of Sexual Health Services

Have your say on sexual health and contraceptive services in Norfolk Healthwatch Norfolk are assisting Norfolk County Council to understand how sexual health and contraceptive services could be improved. The organisation wants to know what has been good about patients’ experiences and what could have been improved through a short public survey. However, even if you have never accessed sexual health services, your views can still help inform the way treatment and advice is provided in the future. The Council are responsible for commissioning sexual health services, which are provided in a variety of settings across Norfolk, including GPs, pharmacies and specialist iCASH clinics (Integrated Contraception and Sexual Health Services.) Providers offer several contraceptive and sexual health interventions to patients, including:

Anyone can take the survey, but Healthwatch Norfolk are encouraging participation from individuals for whom accessing sexual and contraceptive health services is particularly important, such as young people, elderly people and people who wish to have no more children. They would also like to hear from people with a physical or learning disability, non- English speakers, or anyone else that may have unique access considerations. By reviewing contraceptive services, Norfolk County Council hope to encourage more people to use long-lasting reversible contraception and reduce the need for short-term, unreliable methods, such as the morning after pill. You can contribute by completing this short survey. To find out more about how to access sexual health services in Norfolk, visit Norfolk County Council’s website.
