The purpose of 2nd place. Conclave, which means confidential or private meeting, was to promote cooperation and friendly competi- tion among Forestry schools in the Southeast. Just as importantly, it was meant to establish and maintain a high standard of ethics among students and professional foresters. Eight Southern Forestry schools were involved in that first Conclave with less than 100 students compet- ing in events such as archery, - throwing, , log rolling, bow sawing, log birling, and cross- cut competitions. On March 15-18, 2007, the Forestry Club traveled to Crossville, TN and competed in Conclave. Our club placed in the top three in several distinguishing events.

CFR Annual Awards Banquet 2007

Each year, the Society of American Foresters, Mississippi State Student Chapter honors 3 distinguished individuals with special awards. The awards are for Outstanding Faculty, Out- standing Service and Outstanding Leadership. The Faculty award went to Dr. T. Even Nebeker; The Service Award went to Jason Barron; and the Leadership award went to David Menough.
