Thank you for joining USBands at Andre Reed Field at J. Birney Crum Stadium for this wonderful performance opportunity for your students! The following information is provided to make your participation as easy as possible. Please read it carefully so you know what to expect when you arrive at the event. We encourage you to check www.usbands.org often between now and the competition for the latest information. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call Tim Gallagher at 610-821-0345 x137. Band Tickets: Each band has been sent OPTIONAL tickets to sell at a discounted rate for this event, and assumes financial responsibility for each and every ticket. If you did not receive your tickets, or if you need more tickets, please contact the USBands office (610-821-0345 x128). Although there is no ticket sales requirement for this event, we hope you bring plenty of supporters to cheer on all of the performing students! When you arrive at the event, please be sure to return any unsold tickets at Registration. You will be responsible for full payment of any tickets not returned at Registration on the day of the event. Tickets will be available at the event for $25 at the Box Office near the spectator entrance to the stadium. Children age 6 and under will be admitted free. There is a no parking fee for this event. Parking for this event is on the surrounding streets. Please observe all posted parking restrictions. DO NOT park in front of the Fire Station on Turner Street – your vehicle will be towed immediately. Handicapped Parking is available on Turner Street near Gate 3. Spaces are limited. Linden Street is closed for Band Bus and Truck parking ONLY. NO cars will be allowed on Linden Street past St. Elmo. Please pass the word on to your fans, parents and staff. Check-in/Registration: Please check in with the USBands Representative at Band Registration Bus parked on Linden Street near GATE 2 immediately upon arrival. In addition to handling invoices and tickets, you will also receive last-minute information related to the event. Restrooms: The Green Parks Department Building and the Locker Rooms in the Athletics Building near Gate 2 will have restrooms available upon arrival. No changing rooms are available at this event. Band Parking: Band Vehicles ONLY will park on Linden Street between St. Elmo and Ott Streets. To facilitate a faster park – please have your vehicles travel WEST down Linden Street from 15th toward St. Elmo. Do not have your vehicles enter via St. Elmo St. It is a very small road with a difficult turn at the end to get onto Linden Street. No personal cars for band staff, parents or volunteers are allowed to park in the band parking areas. Please let all of your staff and fans know that they will need to park in spectator parking. Warm-Up: Warm-up areas are available in Cedar Beach Park across the creek. Please be conscious of your location to the stadium. If you can see the stands – the audience and adjudicators will be able to hear your band warming up. Please go across the creek via the bridge and WEST so that you cannot see the stands. A USBands Representative may ask you to move if you are playing too close to the stadium. As a courtesy to the performing units – please warm-up as far west in the park as you can. See map for acceptable locations. Gate Time: Your band needs to be at the BAND ENTRANCE GATE approximately 15 minutes prior to your scheduled performance time. It is your responsibility to arrive at the gate at the appropriate time. It is approximately a 10-13 minute walk from the warm-up areas to the gate. If there are any significant changes in the event schedule, USBands representatives will contact you via cell phone with the latest information. Field Surface: Synthetic Turf with NCAA Hash Marks Taped and High School Hash Marks sewn in the turf. Motorized Vehicles and Props: Motorized vehicles moving equipment on and off the field must be in proper working condition and equipped with a diaper (a covering to ensure that there is no leakage) if gas powered. All front ensemble and prop equipment that is being rolled onto the field must have large inflatable tires or tires with a minimum of 8-inch wheels (pneumatic wheels/casters). Any equipment with smaller wheels must be lifted and placed into position. The use of fire extinguishers, water that comes into contact with the field, live animals and pyrotechnics (including fire batons) are prohibited at all USBands shows. This also includes anything that may result in debris left on the field. Any damage to the field surface will result in a penalty. Photography: Jolesch Photography will be on site to take action and group images of your band. Group photos will be taken immediately following your performance. Images can also be ordered online at www.joleschenterprises.com. Please pass this information on to all parents and fans of your group. Awards Ceremony: Drum Majors and/or Band Representatives should assemble for the Awards presentation at the band entrance gate (Gate 2) before the last band performs (see schedule). Critique: No critique will be offered at this event. The adjudicators will provide feedback about your band’s performance in the form of written adjudication sheets and digital recordings in your Dropbox folder. Adjudication sheets will be distributed during the awards ceremony. Please notify a USBands staff member if you will be unable to stay for awards. If you have any post-event questions regarding adjudication, please contact USBands with questions, concerns or clarifications. Band Director DVD: One complimentary High-Cam Only DVD of your band’s performance will be provided to your band director. This DVD will be distributed with your adjudication sheets. Audio/Video Recording without proper MEDIA credentials is strictly prohibited at USBands events. Security will be asking you to return video cameras to your car if brought to the stadium. Please share this with your parents and supporters in order to avoid disrupting a band's performance. Repeat offenders may be asked to leave the premises without a refund. Souvenirs: Airgrams, Programs, Candygrams, DVDs, Band Wearables and other band related souvenirs will be available in the stadium during the event. Concessions: Concessions will be available in the stadium during the event. Rain plan: In the event of inclement weather, all directors should report to the Band Registration Area to meet with the USBands Representatives to discuss delay or cancellation scenarios. Staff/Adult Access Into Stadium: You should have already received one USBands Director Badge and a specified number of USBands Staff badges for your instructors and adult chaperones/equipment handlers, etc. The number of passes assigned to you is based on the group size of the band (see Membership Guide). Only individuals with these passes will be permitted on the field during the band’s performance, and through the Band Entrance Gate. All other adults must have a ticket to enter the stadium as a spectator. Entry to the Stadium Following the Performance: Your band members are invited into the stadium to view the remainder of the event, free of charge. Entrance for band members in uniform, or in a group if out of uniform, is through GATE 2. While in the stadium, the band members are to sit in groups, with appropriate supervision. Please remind your students to be respectful of other audience members, as well as the bands performing on the field. Security Checks: Stadium Security may check any bag you bring into the stadium. To help expedite re-entry to the stadium for your band after your performance, please only bring absolutely necessary items into the stadium. Also, please allow bands entering and exiting the stadium for their performance to pass by before entering. Please explain these guidelines to your staff, students and supporters prior to the event. We appreciate your cooperation! Driving Directions Andre Reed Field at J. Birney Crum Stadium 2100 W. Linden Street Allentown, PA 18104 North/East/West of Allentown: Take Route 22, exiting at 15th St. Proceed south towards town for approximately 1-1/2 miles past Trexler Middle School (left) and the Armory (right) to Linden St. Turn right onto Linden and proceed past William Allen High School. J. Birney Crum Stadium is on the right at the bottom of the hill. East/South of Allentown: Take I-78 Westbound to Exit 55 (Cedar Crest Boulevard). Make right at bottom of ramp. Follow to the second traffic light (Hamilton Boulevard) (Perkins Restaurant will be on your left hand side) and make a right. Follow Hamilton approximately 2 miles to 19th Street and turn left. Follow one block to Linden Street and turn left. J. Birney Crum Stadium will be on your right. West of Allentown: Take I-78 Eastbound to Exit 54 (Hamilton Boulevard).
