The band won their fifth straight 1st place finish in Division 1A USBands competition earning all caption awards (Best Music, Best Visual, & Best General Effect) for their division with an overall score of 82.313. The band next hosts the 46th Anniversary Musictown Grand Day Parade and USBands Competition on Saturday, October 19, 2019. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. and then the competition starts at 1:30 p.m. at Hanson Memorial Stadium. The competition includes performances from 14 area high school marching bands concluding with the “Blue Raider” Marching Band’s performance of their competition show “Reflections” at 5:15 p.m. Please join us for the parade and the competition on Saturday in support your “Blue Raider” Marching Band! 46th Annual Musictown Ball: Congratulations to all of the ensembles that did a wonderful job performing at the 46th Annual Musictown Festival Ball including the String Ensemble, “Electrify”, “Amplified”, “Voltage”, and the SBRHS “Blue Raider” Marching Band. Additionally, congratulations to all of the contestants as well as those named to the 46th Annual Musictown Festival Court including: King – Cruz Whiting, Queen – Lindsey Arruda, Princess – Catherine Corcoran, Miss. Congeniality – Lindsey Arruda and Rebecca Donovan. SEMMEA Junior and Senior District Auditions: Please see Mr. Marshall by the end of the week to let him know that you are interested in auditioning for Junior or Senior District and would like to be placed on the list. Health Forms for SEMMEA will be handed out to you in the week to follow. Those auditioning must submit $15 cash or check (per audition…i.e. if you are auditioning for Jazz and Concert Band, you need $30) to "SBRHS" by Friday 10/25/19 in order to complete your registration. You can drop that off to Mr. Marshall at any time prior to the deadline. Concert Uniforms: Concert uniforms have arrived. We have sorted and organized them and students may pick them up from Mr. Marshall in the band room. There are a few sizes that have been back ordered and should be in soon. If you did not submit your order, it is too late to order through the school as the order has been placed and received. Please see the ordering information attached to this announcement for you to order it on your own as you MUST have this apparel to participate in concert performances if you are a member of the Concert Band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, Concert Choir, Chorale, Orchestra, String Ensemble, or Chamber Ensemble. The following document regarding this event is attached: - Somerset Berkley USBands Competition Marching Band – Rehearsal Schedule Revision: Due to the mosquito imposed curfew, we informed the students that moving forward, Monday and Wednesday rehearsals will start and end an hour earlier. Please let us know if there are difficulties and our band family will come together to help! Marching Band – “REFLECTIONS” Tour T-Shirts: The T-Shirts are in the mail and on their way to us. We should have them on Monday; Tuesday the latest. They are $25 each while supplies last. I ordered about 15 in each size so get them while they last; first come first serve. I will post when they arrive. Again, they are not a requirement, just a fun bit of merchandise to have!!! Show Choirs – Virginia Trip Deposit: The deposit for the Show Choirs Trip to Virginia is due by Tuesday, October 15, 2019. Please see attached forms and see Mr. Bianco with any questions. Mattress Fundraiser: Our Somerset Berkley Regional High School Music Department Mattress Fundraiser is Sunday, October 27, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the SBRHS Gym. There will be over 25 beds on display for customers to try. The beds are new, brand name, made to order, available in all sizes, and cost less than retail stores. In addition to beds, there will also be luxury pillows, sheets, and even adjustable power bases! Please share this information with family and friends! For the best tickets, book your tickets now at SBRHSMusic.Ticketleap.com. 2020 Spring Musical Announcement: The students are incredibly excited about the selection of our 2020 Spring Musical “Ghost: The Musical”. Auditions will take place on Friday, November 28th at 2:15 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center and then rehearsals beginning in January! This is going to be another epic production by the SBRHS Drama Department! SBRHS Fine & Performing Arts Department Calendar 2019-2020: All dates are included in the “Calendar of Events” Page on SBRHSMusic.org Starting 8/21/2019, that page is notification to all members and parent(s) / guardian(s) of each SBRHS Music Ensemble regarding rehearsals and performance dates. Rehearsal and Performance Dates are subject to change with at least two-week notice. Please check often throughout the year! All students must inform their Ensemble Director(s) of an absence of a performance using the proper absence notification process for that ensemble at least two-weeks prior to the performance for that absence to be considered an “Excused Absence”. Unexcused absences have consequences for each ensemble. Absence policies including exceptions and consequences are available in each ensemble’s student handbook or syllabus. This form of communication is necessary for all ensembles to be able to reach their goals. 46th Anniversary of the Musictown Festival: 46th Anniversary of the Musictown Festival – The intent of our annual festival is to give back to our community for the support we receive for our students in the music department. Musictown Pops Night – THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17 o 7:00 p.m. – SBRHS Performing Arts Center. Please attend to gain more details. 2019 SBRHS MUSICTOWN GRAND DAY PARADE & USBANDS MARCHING BAND COMPETITION VOLUNTEER POSITIONS, DESCRIPTIONS, AND INSTRUCTIONS Coordinator – Tina Rausch and Carrie Ann Marshall Will float around throughout the event coordinating between all volunteers and USBands personnel and supervise the kitchen staff. Announcer – Sam Bianco Report Time – 12:00 p.m. Report Location – TRACK/BOOTH Pre-show announcements will begin a half hour prior to the start of the show. That will allow for one hour of prep time.

The HHS Marching Band takes the field in competition this Fall with their show “Gladiator” The Hightstown High School Marching Band is preparing to take the field this year with the field show Gladiator. The music is arranged by Justin Halat, Kristina O’Dea and Anthony Matthews and will feature original ​ music by Justin Halat, Adagio by Aram Khachaturian and The Barbarian Horde by Hans Zimmer. The HHS Marching Band, is a competitive marching unit competing with US Bands, group IIIA. The unit includes a total of 63 students, including 46 musicians and 17 Guard members. The unit’s teaching staff consists of Mr. Justin Halat, Director; Ms. Kristina O’Dea, Assistant Director; Ms. Jennifer Logothetis, Color Guard; Mr. Steven Jack, Percussion Instructor; and Mrs. Maggie McGill, Music & Field Support. The unit will be performing at all home HHS Football games, at eight US Bands Competitions, and other parades and community events throughout the year. The Marching Band’s rehearsal season began at the beginning of the Summer with weekly rehearsals.
