Chipping Norton and Stowe Methodist Circuit Records
Oxfordshire Record Office NM1 CHIPPING NORTON AND STOW METHODIST CIRCUIT Historical Background 1760-1993 The earliest surviving records for the Chipping Norton circuit include in this collection registers of baptism which date from 1837.The circuit could have been created much earlier but the records do not reveal it. The earliest surviving records for the Stow circuit include registers of baptism also which date from 1868. However, in 1814, Stow became part of the Witney circuit, so it must have been created between 1814 and 1868. In 1923 the Chipping Norton and Stow circuit combined and in 1932 the Methodist Union took place when all the surviving methodist connexions combined.
