This Week In Oregon State Softball: Games 21-24 Oregon State Returns Heads to No. 9 Arizona for Weekend Series vs. #9 Arizona | March 26-28 | Tucson, Ariz. SOFTBALL All Times Pacific ABOUT THE BEAVERS OREGON STATE • Before starting its conference series, Oregon State earned a 10-6 non-conference Overall Record. .13-7 Pac-12 Record .....................................2-1 record. OSU now holds a 13-7 overall record with a 2-1 Pac-12 record. Home Record .....................................5-1 • The Beavers opened the season with an undefeated weekend in the Los Angeles area Road Record .....................................4-3 (Feb. 12-14). They went on to garner a 3-5 record at the Wildcat Invitational (Feb. 26-28) Neutral Record ...................................4-3 and Colorado Classic (Mar. 5-7). • For their first games at home, the Beavers defeated Sacramento State twice. Junior Mariah Mazon pitched for a perfect game before senior Trystan Melancon pitched her HEAD COACH LAURA BERG first no-hitter with OSU. Overall Record. 228-193-1 (.541) • Sophomore Frankie Hammoude leads the team with a .377 batting average and a .803 Conference Record .....................57-109 (.343) slugging average while junior Missy Nunes follows with a .368 batting average and a .754 slugging average. Live Results ....................ArizonaWildcats.com ON THE MOUND SERIES HISTORY • Junior Mariah Mazon has won 10 games for the Beavers while senior Trystan Melancon All-time vs. Arizona ............................16-107 has tallied two wins and senior Nerissa Eason has won one game. • Earning the team’s first shutout of the season, Mazon also pitched her first no-hitter of the season against Utah State (2/13) before she pitched a perfect game in the Beavers’ first game at home (3/12). • In 82.0 innings pitched, Mazon has notched 101 strikeouts from 295 batters for a 1.54 ERA. • Melancon follows with 32 strikeouts in 25.2 innings pitched. • Eason owns a 2.10 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 20.0 innings pitched. Sophomore Maia Rader notched the final RBI for the 6-0 win. • On Saturday, the Beavers split the day with the Golden Bears. Easton Invitational | Fullerton, Calif. • To open the season, Arizona went 5-0 at the Hillenbrand Invitational (Feb. 19-21) and 5-0 12 Utah State W, 6-1 at their own Wildcat Invitational (Feb. 26-28). 12 Cal State Fullerton W, 5-4 • Before starting conference play against Washington on Mar. 19, the Wildcats spent a 13 Utah State W, 6-0 week in Florida (Mar. 6-13). Arizona took the 3-2 win in the eighth inning. 13 Oregon L, 14-6 (5 inn.) • Prior to this year, OSU met Arizona for three Wildcat wins in March 2019. 19 California* W, 6-0 • Throughout the weekend in March, OSU scored five runs. Each of the members of the 2020 team has kept their APRIL athletic years from last season. 1 Oregon* 4 p.m. 2 Oregon* 2 p.m. • All but one member of the senior class will be returning. Trystan Melancon, Fallon Molnar, 2 Oregon 4:30 p.m. and Nerissa Eason will play for Oregon State in 2021 while Karla Calderon graduated in 3 Oregon* 5 p.m. 2020. • All but two members, Paige Goodrich and Izzy Owen, of the rest of the team have chosen 9 Washington* 5 p.m. 10 Washington* 1 p.m. to return for the 2021 season. 10 Washington 3 p.m. • The fall of 2020 brought four new additions to the team: Charity Sevaaetasi, Jade Soto, 11 Washington* 12 p.m. Katie Hicks, and Madison Simon are all the newcomers for the 2021 season. • Though 2020 was cut short, the Beavers were able to play 26 games. Four student- 16 UCLA* 4 p.m. 17 UCLA* 11 a.m. athletes - Xiao Gin, Mariah Mazon, Grace Messmer, and Missy Nunes - all started in all 17 UCLA 1:30 p.m. 26 games while Morgan Allen missed just one game and Ashton Zeiher and Maia Rader 18 UCLA* 12 p.m. missed two games. • 12 of the 16 returning softball players on the 2021 team competed in at least five games MAY for the Beavers last season with six of those returning from 2019 seeing action in at least 30 Stanford* TBD a third of the last full season’s games. 1 Stanford* TBD • The Beavers have one player that hails from the state of Oregon, Ashton Zeiher (Scio), 1 Stanford TBD 2 Stanford* TBD with one player that comes from outside the United States, Grace Messmer (British Co- lumbia).
