Competing for his hometown 1996: Grayson County College (head coach) team, he went 1-0 with a 3.79 ERA across 22 appearances out of the bullpen. 1993-95: Texas Tech (assistant coach) 1991-92: Frank Phillips College (head coach) HIGH SCHOOL 1988-90: Lubbock Christian University (assistant coach) A native of Sugar Land, Texas, Winkler was a three-year letterwinner at Kempner High School. He participated with the 2006 USA Youth National Team that won the Pan Am Championships in Venezuela.

Across his prep campaign, he garnered District Newcomer of the Year, District 23- 5A MVP and all-state honors, among others. After his senior season, Winkler was selected by the in the 37th Round (Pick 1,118) of the 2008 MLB Draft, but chose to attend TCU.

PERSONAL He graduated from TCU with a bachelor’s degree in 2019. He is married to Stephanie and has one daughter, Kole.

Jake Arledge | Volunteer Assistant Coach

Jake Arledge was announced as the volunteer assistant coach on August 26, 2019. He will be in charge of and assist with hitting and base running.

Arledge joins UIW after spending the 2018-2019 season as the assistant coach at Angelina Junior College in Lufkin, Texas. At Angelina, he worked with the fielder’s on defense and helped with hitting and baserunning. Additionally, Arledge worked with the team in the weight room. Prior to Angelina, Arledge was the student assistant coach at University of Arkansas.

The Huntington Beach, Calif., Arledge was a starting outfielder for the Arkansas Razorbacks for the last two seasons of his collegiate playing career. Prior to Arkansas, he played at Panola Junior College his sophomore year, where he was named to the NJCAA Region 14 First-Team All-Region team. Arledge spent his freshman year playing for California Baptist.

PERSONAL He earned his bachelor’s in sociology from the University of Arkansas in 2018.
