Kinlochleven lies at the head of Loch Leven amongst the impressive Mamore mountain range. Despite that, its hotels, shops and visitor attractions are on level ground and generally accessible. The village grew on the strength of an early and pioneering, aluminium smelter which closed in 1999 after over 90 years of production. The village lies on the West Highland Way and is generally establishing itself as a popular tourist destination and hill walking centre.
