Silvagni (c/o OMASud) 81043 Capua (CE) Italy rev. set-13 pag. 2 FLIGHT OPERATIONS CAPUA is a VFR DAY, 600 m grass strip where flight activity is limited to local operators only: TECNAM, OMA SUD, CAPUA AEROCLUB, AVIOTRAVEL. VDS (ULM) and advanced VDS activity is cleared only for Tecnam and OMA SUD activity and for their customers. Flight Customers/visitors of above companies are allowed to fly to and from Capua, provided previous coordination with companies is completed. It shall be checked: ñ field opening hours, ñ runway condition and fire brigade availability, ñ a/c parking, fuelling and servicing ICAO FPLN to and from LIAU shall indicate on field 18 their Capua operator: e.g “RMK/Flight coordinated with C.A. TECNAM” CUSTOMS / SECURITY No Custom and Security (Police) are available at LIAU: no direct arrival or direct departure to a foreign airport is permitted, only domestic flights will be allowed (to and from Italian fields). Appropriate Airport with Customs and/or Security, as needed, shall be selected for stop over before entering/leaving ITALY. ATC / COM LIAU resides within LIRM CTR, controlled by GRAZZANISE App: 122,100 MHz. In Capua a local INFO Radio is available but not continuously attended ATS use. It will not give any clearance; contact local Capua Radio 122,500 MHz just for blind transmission before line up in the runway for take-off and before landing on final. All ATC communications shall be done on GRA App 122,100MHz: - access and crossing of GRA CTR to join Capua traffic pattern, - meteo info’s in GRA CTR, rev. set-13 pag. 3 - closure of flight plan on final before landing in Capua, - line up on Capua runway and take off, - climb out procedures (VFR and VFR to IFR). All communications with GRA App shall contain type of a/c, POB, intentions, and should indicate which Capua OPERATOR coordinated the flight: e.g. “OE-FIN, P2006T with VFR flight plan, 2 POB, from TEA to Capua, 1000ft, will report on final 26 at Capua, flight coordinated with TECNAM”. Runway lighting, Meteorological Service and Air Traffic Information Service are not available at LIAU (VFR DAY ONLY). Pilots planning should refer to Grazzanise (LIRM) and Napoli Capodichino (LIRN) Meteo and NOTAM. NAV / RWY LAYOUT WARNING Runway works in progress North of the marked grass strip. Men and equipment may be present without radio contact. North of marked strip terrain is soft and not usable for landing/taxi/takeoff. No ATC/Tower is available at LIAU. Airport general information are available on - ITALIAN AIP - AD2 – LIAU or - Jeppesen VFR Manual, LIAU. First 300 mt of RWY 08 and RWY 26 are unusable. Usable runway is limited 600x18 mt. Grass strip is marked by white cones. A taxiway is available parallel to the runway, on the South side (left hand after 26 landing). GPS signal discontinuity may be experienced within 2 NM from LIAU. Unlighted and un-signaled power line peers, trees, cranes and obstacles protrude on RWY 08 final and RWY 26 final (max alt 150 ft AAL). rev. set-13 pag. 4 Water pools, slippery areas or soft terrain may be found along the runway after heavy rain, in particular in the central part of the runway. WARNING Capua grass runway operability is highly dependent on meteorological condition and precipitation. Check its status with TECNAM, OMA SUD or AEROCLUB before flying to LIAU METEO / FLIGHT PLANS/ NOTAMS No weather station is available on LIAU, refer to LIRM, LIRN and LIRR METAR/TAF and SIGMET’s. Local operators will provide any information by phone, here included RWY condition and operability. GRA App is informed about LIAU RWY status and opening hours. No ARO is available in LIAU, Pilots filing a flight plan message should address it also to “LIRMZPZX” and “LIRNZPZX” (case 1, “address” of ICAO flight plan module). LIAU NOTAMs are published by LIRN ENAC/ENAV authority. Pilots planning to fly to LIAU should also check LIRM and LIRN NOTAMs. From Capua flight plans can be faxed to LIRF (Rome) “C” office: Fax: +39 06 65650266 Tel.: +39 06 65650263 (English spoken, operator will answer to check FLPN ACCEPTANCE status, manage delays, etc.) rev. set-13 pag. 5 LIAU APPROACH AND DEPARTURE Pilots are responsible for correct VFR routing and procedures, and are invited to check out relevant valid Italy AIP publications and NOTAMS. WARNING ULM traffic may also be operating at LIAU, over Vitulazio (41°09.14', 014°12.76’) and CastelVolturno (N 41° 03.63', E 013 57.57') without radio contact. CAUTION GRA ATZ penetration shall be avoided. CAUTION “FPLN closure” call is mandatory with LIRM APP before landing. On loss of radio contact before landing in Capua, a telephone call should be done after landing to GRA TWR +39 0823 562444 to ensure FPLN closure. Local CAPUA 122,500 MHz is not used for ATS. For traffic information and self-separation, blind radio calls on Capua 122,500MHz can be done turning on base/final, stating type of aircraft and intentions. VFR routing is in visual ground contact at 1000 ft AGL or as instructed by GRA APP through: from WEST: “Mondragone” - “Sparanise” – “Capua” from NORTH and EAST: “TEA” - “Sparanise” – “Capua” from SOUTH: “Aversa” - “Caserta” – “Capua” IFR to VFR transitions are : from NORTH and EAST: “TEA” VOR/DME (112.90 MHz) from SOUTHor WEST: “PNZ” VOR/DME (114.60 MHz) OUTBOUND FLIGHTS Pilots departing from Capua should call Grazzanise APP (122,100 MHz) at line up before take off. Capua visual traffic pattern shall not be left above 700 feet AMSL, before positive contact with GRA App 122,100 MHz. Traffic information and self separation blind radio calls on Capua 122.500MHz may be done entering and taxiing on the runway and before take-off, stating runway in use and type of aircraft. CAUTION GRA ATZ penetration must be avoided. LIAU visual traffic pattern is established as follows: Downwind and Base Legs for both runways should be performed at 700 feet over LIRM QNH: RWY 08left hand downwind and base turn, RWY 26 left hand downwind and base turn. All pattern radio calls shall be done on 122,100 MHz Grazzanise App frequency. It is mandatory to close FPLN with Grazzanise App, before landing in Capua. Airport runway surface condition update is available on Capua Ground 122.500 MHz. Capua Ground is operated by non-ATC qualified personnel (English language spoken) when Capua airfield is open. 700FT QNH RWY 08 OMA TECNAM CIRA SUD N xxxxx works in progress xxxxx TARMAC TWY 08 runway 26 taxiway CAPUA IT ARMY PLANTS AEROCLUB RWY 26 700FT QNH PARKING A tarmac taxiway (2.5 m wide, un-signaled) is available at NE airfield corner, abeam RWY26 threshold (N41 07.030 E014 11.034). Please taxy with caution to industrial plants private aprons for overnight parking. From the concrete compass rose, turn right to reach “TECNAM” apron, or proceed straight ahead for “OMASUD” apron. Frequency 122.500 MHz “Capua info” is available for technical and parking assistance in coordination with local operators’ companies. Before landing a radio check-in to Capua Ground 122.500 MHz is suggested in order to confirm airport runway latest surface condition. Capua Ground is operated by non-ATC personnel (English language spoken) when Capua airfield is open. rev. set-13 pag. 9 LIAU Final 08 LIAU Final 26 rev. set-13 pag. 10 PAPERWORK VFR flights within Italian boundaries do not require a FPLN MSG. A FPLN MSG may be filed in flight, once in contact with ATC. Z FPLN (or Y) should be filed and checked for ACCEPTANCE before flight. An ARC form should also be filled upon arrival, or before departure, or for any local flight in Capua. All forms are available at the Tecnam front office.
