WEEKEND RECAP • Alabama (9-6-1, 1-5-1 SEC) picked up its first win of the year by defeating TEAM COMPARISON Mississippi State, 3-2, in a double-overtime thriller on Sunday evening at the Alabama Soccer Complex. Junior Abbie Boswell scored the game-winning goal in the 102nd minute to push the Crimson Tide past the Bulldogs. CRIMSON TIDE • Sunday marked the Tide’s first win over the Bulldogs in Tuscaloosa since 2010 and the first overtime victory over MSU in program history. 2017 Record 9-6-1 • Three Crimson Tide student-athletes booted in goals to give Alabama three more points in the conference 2017 SEC Record -5-1 standings. On Senior Day, senior Alexis Mouton opened up the match netting her first goal of the season in the 28th minute. Freshman Casey Wertz scored her third goal of the year to put the Tide up by two, and Goals Leader Abbie Boswell (6) Boswell tallied her sixth goal of 2017 to solidify the win. Assists Leader Emma Welch (6) • Alabama held the 1-0 lead to start the second half and extended its advantage with a goal from Wertz in the 49th minute. Mississippi State rallied with a pair of goals within two minutes of each other to force the game Points Leader Abbie Boswell (14) into overtime after 90 minutes of action. Head Coach Wes Hart • After the first overtime period ended without a score, Boswell netted her second game-winner of the season off of the assist from junior Kayla Mouton two minutes into the second overtime to give the Tide the victory. MISSOURI • Alabama recorded its best non-conference match in the season opener against Jacksonville State where the Tide topped the Gamecocks, 5-1. Senior Chatham DeProspo led the Tide in scoring with two goals, while 2017 Record 6-9-1 juniors Kayla Mouton and Emma Welch along with freshman Nicole Lyubenko all contributed one score apiece. The Tide put up 16 shots in the second half on the way to its four goals and eventually finished the 2017 SEC Record 2-5-0 night with 34 shots to the Gamecocks’ five. SCORING CENTER BACK • Junior center back Kayla Mouton played a crucial role in Alabama’s two wins on opening weekend. Despite QUICK FACTS being a defender and spending most of her time in the backfield, the junior scored both of the Tide’s game- winners. Mouton headed the ball into the back of the net off a corner to break the tie against Jacksonville State, and scored in similar fashion on Sunday to put the Tide on top against Samford. UNIVERSITY • Mouton’s pair of goals on the season surpasses her previous career total. • In the double-overtime thriller against Mississippi State (Oct. 15), Kayla Mouton moved up to foward in Location Tuscaloosa, Ala. overtime and provided the perfect pass to Abbie Boswell’s game-winner to capture the Tide’s first conference Founded April 12, 1831 win of the season. • Arkansas (8-7-1) ranks seventh in the conference with ten points thanks to a 3-3-1 record in SEC play. • Parker Goins leads the Razorback offense with eight goals, 20 points, 41 shots, 23 shots on goal and four game-winning tallies. In the conference, Goins is tied for fourth in goals and fifth in goals per game (0.57). Goalkeeper Jordan Harris and Rachel Harris have combined for 43 saves and seven shutouts. • The Razorbacks ended its 2016 campaign 18-5-1 and finished third in the conference with an 8-3 record. Arkansas appeared in its first SEC Tournament final last year since 1996 and ended the season falling to Clemson, 4-2, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Arkansas returns 12 starters to 2017.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT - MISSOURI • Sunday’s match against Missouri marks the fifth meeting in history between the two squads, and Alabama trails 1-3 in the series. In the last meeting, Alabama fell to Missouri, 2-0, on Oct. 9, 2016. The Tide defeated the Tigers for the first time on Oct. 19, 2014, 1-0, in Columbia, Mo. • Missouri (6-9-1) is tied for ninth in the SEC with a 2-5-0 record and has picked up conference wins against Georgia, 3-1, and Kentucky, 2-1. • Four different Tigers have notched five goals apiece with Sarah Luebbert leading the way with five assists, 15 points, 32 shots and 18 shots on goal. In the net, Kelsey Dossey and Kristen Rivers have combined for 72 saves. • Missouri ended its 2016 campaign 11-7-2 and finished fifth in the conference with a 6-4-1 record. Mizzou returns 14 letterwinners and welcomes 10 newcomers to 2017.

2016 REVIEW • The Alabama soccer team reached the Southeastern Conference Tournament for the first time since 2014 before falling to then-No. 8 Texas A&M, 1-0, in double-overtime in the opening round. The Crimson Tide concluded the 2016 campaign with a 9-8-2 overall record, including a 4-5-2 mark in league play. • Tennessee enters Thursday’s match 9-1-1 and 1-1-1 in conference play, picking up its lone SEC victory over Kentucky, 3-0, on Sept. 17. • Alabama topped Vanderbilt in a 2-0 decision to conclude the 2016 regular season. The win against the Commodores marked the ninth of the season, which tied for 10th on Alabama’s single-season wins list. • To begin SEC play, Alabama topped the , 5-1, in Knoxville, Tenn. The win over Tennessee marked the first SEC road opener victory since the 2014 season, when the Tide defeated Tennessee in a 1-0 decision that went into double-overtime. Moreover, Alabama’s win over the Volunteers was also significant in that it marked the largest margin of victory in a SEC opener in program history. • Alabama played its third consecutive match that was decided in overtime when it upset then-No. 14 Texas A&M, 2-1. The win over the Aggies marked the first time the Tide recorded a victory over a ranked SEC opponent since the 2014 season. Moreover, it was the Tide’s first win over Texas A&M since the 1995 season. Additionally, it was the first win over a top-25 opponent under head coach Wes Hart. • The Tide had three individuals who finished the season ranked in the top-100 in three offensive categories. Lacey Clarida concluded the 2016 season ranked No. 61 in the nation in game-winning goals with four. Abbie Boswell and Emma Welch each finished ranked 88th nationally in total assists with seven on the year, while earning a No. 85 ranking in assists per game (0.37).

SEC PRESEASON WATCH LIST • The Crimson Tide had four players selected to the SEC Preseason Watch List including senior midfielder Celia Jimenez Delgado, senior goalkeeper Kat Stratton, junior forward Abbie Boswell and junior midfielder Emma Welch.

TWO EARN NCSAA DIVISON I REGIONAL HONORS • Kat Stratton and Lacey Clarida were named to the 2016 NSCAA NCAA Division I Women’s All-South Region Third Team. • Stratton and Clarida were the first Alabama soccer student-athletes to be named to the NSCAA All-South Region list since the 2014 season, when goalkeeper Emily Rusk and forward Laura Lee Smith were also named to the third team.

ACADEMIC RECOGNITION • The Tide produced an impressive academic effort during the 2016 fall semester, boasting a 3.62 team grade point average. A total of seven UA soccer student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA and were named to the President’s List in the fall including: Maddy Anzelc, Lacey Clarida, Christina Martensson, Emma Welch, , Chloe Maize and Alex Plavin. Alabama also had six student-athletes named to the Dean’s List (3.5 or better GPA). • The Tide graduated three soccer players in December, including seniors Caroline Alexander, Auburn Mercer and Kaylee Semelsberger. • Hailey Brohaugh, Chatham DeProspo, Tori Gann, Cat Jorgensen, Christina Maartensson, Alexis Mouton, Kat Stratton, Emma Welch and Elena Zang all appeared on the 2016 SEC Academic Honor Roll and Chloe Maize earned a spot on the First-Year Academic Honor Roll.

FACING STIFF COMPETITION • Five of Alabama’s 19 opponents rank among the nation’s top-25 teams in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll. • Of the Tide’s 18 opponents, nine played in the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Of those nine teams, six won their first-round game in the tournament. • Thirteen of Alabama’s 19 opponents in 2017 had a winning record last year. • On Aug. 27, 2017, the Crimson Tide defeated its first top-10 opponent in program history, 1-0, shutting out then-No. 6/4 Florida State. Alabama now owns a 8-43-2 record against top-25 teams and a 1-11-1 record agaisnt top-10 opponents.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE • After seven home games, the Tide has registered a 5-1-1 record, suffering its sole loss to South Florida, 2-1, in overtime on Aug. 24. • Alabama finished the 2016 season with a 6-2 record in home games and 3-5-2 in away games. • The Crimson Tide outscored its opposition 22-8 at home and attacked the net more times than their competitors (152-83) in the eight matches played at the Alabama Soccer Complex. • For comparison, the Tide was outscored, 13-8, in its 10 road matches.

SEC PRESEASON COACHES POLL • Alabama was selected to finish 10th in the conference as voted upon by the league coaches. Florida was chosen to win the 2017 conference title by the league’s 14 head coaches, the 19th time the Gators have been tabbed conference favorites.

JIMENEZ DELGADO COMPETES FOR HER HOME COUNTRY AT 2015 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS • Before suffereing a season-ending injuring in 2016, Alabama midfielder Celia Jimenez Delgado played on the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup Spanish National Team and earned a start in all three of Spain’s matches in the country’s first appearance in the World Cup.

COMING UP • Alabama will wrap up the regular season on the road against Ole Miss on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. CT at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium in Oxford, Miss. Thursday’s match will be broadcasted live on SEC Network +.
