NORTH BRADLEY is a township, village, and parish, situated 2 miles south of Station, 107½ from London, 3 north-west of Westbury, 12 south-east of Bath, 7 north of , 7 north-east from Frome, and 30 from Salisbury, in the Hundred of Whorlesdown and Westbury union. The living is a vicarage, valued at £640, with 25 acres of glebe land. The Rev. Harry Lee, B.D., is the patron and incumbent. The church, a very large structure, has a beautiful Norman tower, with 6 fine-toned bells. There is a school attached, endowed by the late Archdeacon Danheny, which is conducted in the same manner as those in connection with the National Society; also an asylum for sic poor people of the parish, with the annual amount of 10s each. The population, in 1851, was 2,298, 987 in Bradley and 1,311in Southwick; and the acreage amounted to 3,966, which is principally pasture. William Tynley Long Pole Wellesley, Esq., is lord of the manor.

SOUTHWICK is a hamlet and tithing; is 1 mile east; Pole’s Hale, 1 mile west; Catteridge 1½ miles south- west; Brook House, 1½ miles south; Limbere, Hopper’s Pole, and Mutton Marsh 2½ miles west; Silver Street, 2 miles south-west; Vagg’s Hill, 2 miles west; Norris, Hill, Road, Over Court, Brickers, and Druces are other places.
