Yang Dipertua Majlis Daerah Kuala Langat Bismillahirrahmanirrahim Assalamualaikum warahmatullahiwabarakatuh dan selamat sejahtera. Terlebih dahalu tahniah diucapkan kepada sidang redaksi atas kejayaan menerbitkan buku laporan Tahunan Majlis Daerah Kuala Langat (MDKL) bagi tahun 2019. Terima kasih juga kerana memberi kesempatan untuk saya mencoretkan sepatah dua kata dalam buku laporan tahunan ini. MDKL memainkan peranan yang amat penting bagi menentukan hala tuju daerah Kuala Langat disamping memberikan perkhidmatan kepada warga Kuala Langat. Tidak dinafikan juga, kepentingan agensi-agensi lain yang turut sama-sama memajukan serta membangunkan daerah Kuala Langat. Dalam memacu melaksanakan tanggungjawab sebagai sebuah pihak berkuasa tempatan dan pembangunan daerah Kuala Langat, MDKL menghadapi pelbagai cabaran dan rintangan. Walau bagaimanapun dengan cakna, semangat dan kekuatan yang ada dalam warga kerjanya, semua cabaran dan rintangan ini dapat diatasi dengan cemerlang, gemilang dan terbilang. MDKL komited dalam meneruskan formula perkhidmatan yang terbaik bagi meningkatkan aspek kebersihan, pengindahan, penguatkuasaan, menaik taraf kemudahan dan infrastruktur awam untuk keselesaan untuk warga Kuala Langat selaras dengan moto “Kuala Langat Indah dan Harmoni”. Selain daripada itu, MDKL akan memastikan agar pembangunan dan kehidupan yang lebih berkualiti kepada masyarakat, kaedah pembangunan yang lestari disesuaikan dengan keperluan pembangunan sosial setempat LAPORAN TAHUNAN MDKL 2019 melalui penganjuran program-program yang dapat menyumbang kepada LAPORAN TAHUNAN MDKL 2019 pertumbuhan ekonomi yang lebih rancak. Antaranya seperti program berbentuk sukan, kebudayaan dan pelancongan telah dan akan dilaksanakan. Dengan perancangan dan pelaksanaan aktiviti serta program disamping lain- lain kejayaan yang diperolehi oleh MDKL, insya-Allah MDKL akan dinaik taraf 11 kepada Majlis Perbandaran Kuala Langat pada tahun 2020. Dengan naik taraf ini saya berharap agar semua warga kerja MDKL akan lebih ‘realiable’ iaitu mempunyai integriti yang tinggi, telus dan amanah dalam melaksanakan tanggungjawab agar kita dipercayai dalam semua urusan yang dilakukan. Business tourism is popularly known as MICE (Meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourism. c. Special Interest Interestingly, some people travel for special reasons such as religions, medical, education, hobbies and cultural. Under medical tourism for example, travellers go to places such as recommended specialist centre seeking for medical treatment. Even though the development of archaeology in the nation is approximately 200 years, it is still considered a new subject. Even so, more than 50 research projects on the archaeological conservation of buildings and historical sites have been completed in this nation. Some of the archaeological conservation projects completed include Kota Kuala Kedah, the candi of Lembah Bujang, Fort Cornwallis, Suffolk House, High Courts, and Shop Houses of (Lebuh Acheh) in Pulau Pinang, Muzium Matang in Pasir Salak, Balai Budaya in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Lukut in Negeri Sembilan, Kota Melawati and Istana Bandar in Selangor, Bangunan Onn Jaafar in Johor and Fort Megarittha in Sarawak. These archaeological conservation projects had varying success. Successful in this context is when a site is uncovered with carefully preserved and restored archaeological finds and the reconstruction of certain structures whereas unsuccessful is when all the archaeological finds are disregarded or even destroyed. Therefore, this article attempts to uncover several factors about the importance of archaeological activities in the conservation or restoration of buildings and historical sites. Among that being suggested is that all historical buildings or sites that have to preserved and conserved should first be investigated archaeologically, all archaeological finds should be restored, and reconstructed in order to preserve the specific authenticity of the historical building or site, some funds should be set aside for these activities, and that it should be undertaken by an archaeologist who is experienced and trained in this field.
