The first All-Breed Best in Show win had gone to her mother: DC Shema’s Khan Khara CD. That same year Mia was awarded a second All-Breed Best in show under judge Dr. Brandt. Although never fortunate enough to earn a National Specialty BOB, she was a National BOS winner.

If he got a little cold, he just had to burrow down to the bottom of the pile and he was warm. If he got a little lonesome, there were always plenty of siblings around for comfort. Things are different now that he is removed from his canine companions.

Carol was the editor of Daneline for many years and evolved it into the wonderful publication that it was. We only ended it due to lack of funds in the club and the increasing cost of publication. Since I’ve been doing Throwback Thursday, I’ve heard from several people across the country who told me that they looked forward to getting it each year at the National. I hope everyone will get on board with getting your brags and litters listed. We are planning an every other month publication so the next deadline should be March 1st. I would like to welcome our new Associate Members, Michelle Hojdysz from New Rochelle, NY and Anne Sanders from Gardiner, NY. We hope to actually meet you in person when dog shows open up again. • About the Breed and the International Silken Windhound Society (ISWS)
I N T E R N A T I O N A L S I L K E N W I N D H O U N D S O C I E T Y ABOUT THE BREED FOUNDER AND THE ISWS Out of the childhood aspiration of a 5 year old who wanted to become a veterinarian after her parents purchased their first Borzoi in 1953, Francie Stull took the first steps on a journey that would culminate in the remarkable challenge to develop a new breed, the Silken Windhound. After spending her senior year in high school as a foreign exchange student in Italy, Francie came home to pursue her study of animals. Her passionate love for and admiration of horses and dogs became the primary focus of her studies. In 1969, Francie and her husband Chuck purchased their first Borzoi, which was the beginning of the Kristull Borzoi Kennel. Her sister, Jackie, also captivated by the beautiful Borzoi, shipped Francie three lovely Borzois from Holland, Germany, and France to add to the two-finished American Champions Francie had purchased earlier. For the next twenty-five years, Kristull Kennel produced some of the finest Borzois in the United States. Two hundred and nine (209) of the Kristull dogs who were all owner and/or breeder handled garnered championships. Since the emphasis was on breeding dogs with all the characteristic elements that would encourage their owners to show them, Francie did not keep a record of the dogs that won their championships with professional handlers. Between 1970 and 1995, Francie produced 40+ litters of Borzoi and Scottish Deerhounds and participated in dog shows from Canada to Peru.

  • I First Became Involved with Rhodesian Ridgebacks in 1982
Ross Jones; Nominee for President I first became involved with Rhodesian Ridgebacks in 1982 when I met Cherie Starr of “Cimarron” and she and her Ridgebacks allowed myself and my Great Dane to become a part of their lives. We have bred 14 litters through the years and have attained a total of 35 titles on our puppies. These titles are in Conformation, Obedience and Lure Coursing. We owned, bred and handled the first Ridgeback Brace to go Best in Show and also the first Ridgeback Veteran to go Best In Show in a Veteran Exhibition. In the course of the following year I became a member of RRCUS as well as the local all breed club, Obedience Club, and Stewards Club. In other words I was “HOOKED”. I have been a Board Member of Rio Grande Kennel Club for the past 30 years and have held the position of Board Member, Vice- President and was President from 1994-1999 & 2014-present and am also the AKC Delegate. I was Show Chairman for 8 years and Cluster Chairman for the last 8 years. I am the equipment manager for the local Lure Coursing Club here in Albuquerque. Due to this exposure to the dog fancy I have become well versed in dealing with various personalities involved, dealing with the AKC and conducting the day-to-day business of an All Breed Club. I have served on various committees for Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the US, and was appointed by the Board to the position of Recording Secretary in January 1999, and was re-elected in 2000.

  • Draft for a Discussion on Basic Genetics.Pdf
2 Foreword. “Mens sana in corpore sano” : a healthy mind in a healthy body. The health of the Rottweiler, worldwide, lies close to our heart and is embedded in the Constitution of the International Federation of Rottweilerfriends (IFR). It’s reference to the health of all breeding dogs, implies that the Federation and its Memberclubs must pay particular attention to genetic disorders. For the Rottweiler, Hip Dysplasia (HD) and Elbow Dysplasia (ED) were the first disorders that worldwide led to regulations meant to diminish the genetic affection of the breed. The measures that were taken by breed clubs and/or kennelclubs, mostly by excluding the dogs that are affected by the disease from breeding, have proven to be quite effective, although not enough to completely eliminate the genetic factor and remove it from the genepool Still they have helped to limit the number of affected dogs and to avoid a lot of suffering. In this brochure you will find a brief review of just a few of the genetic diseases that are said to have entered the Rottweiler’s genepool. 1 The list is not new, nor the particular diseases on it. Even the way of approaching the problem is known for a long time and was amongst others confirmed in the International Breeding Strategies of the FCI that were approved in 2009. Indeed, not just for the Rottweiler but for many other breeds too, cynology has sounded a loud alarm concerning an ever more reduced genetic diversity among certain canine breeds, causing not only extreme phenotypes (2) but also physical and health problems.
