EGLINTON CROSSTOWN Community Benefits and Liaison Plan Summary & Progress To-Date 6 201 DECEMBER Photo: Crosslinx Transit Solutions, 2016. Transit Crosslinx Photo: Photo: Crosslinx Transit Solutions, 2016. I. INTRODUCTION Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario selected Crosslinx Transit Solutions to design, build, finance and maintain the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (ECLRT) project, the first major transit expansion in 50 years. The provincial government’s $5.3 billion Crosstown investment is the single largest GTA transit investment ever. When it’s up and running, the Crosstown will deliver service that is reliable, comfortable and 60 percent faster than what is now available. What’s more, building the line is creating thousands of jobs, 2,500 at peak construction, and other significant economic benefits. The Crosstown is also unique because it is Ontario’s first large- scale public infrastructure project to contractually require the developer, CTS, to ensure that local communities and historically disadvantaged and equity seeking groups directly benefit from the province’s investment. Historically disadvantaged and equity seeking groups (H&E) refer to groups that have been historically excluded or marginalized from the processes and decisions that affect them. To meet this requirement, CTS is providing a range of employment, training and apprenticeship opportunities to these groups, as well as purchasing goods and services from local suppliers and social enterprises, whenever possible. 1 Photo: Crosslinx Transit Solutions, 2016. II. PROJECT AGREEMENT REQUIREMENTS Eglinton Crosstown Project Agreement Requirements The objective of the Community Benefits and Liaison Plan Community Benefits is to maximize training, employment and procurement The Project Agreement mandates a plan that includes: opportunities for Eglinton-area residents and businesses.

  • Bus Lane Implementation Plan
2045.5 For Action Bus Lane Implementation Plan Date: July 14, 2020 To: TTC Board From: Chief Strategy & Customer Officer Summary The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that the TTC is a vital service in Toronto providing transportation to essential destinations including employment, healthcare, groceries and pharmacies. Although TTC ridership may be down to 22% of pre-pandemic levels, the TTC continues to serve hundreds of thousands of customer-trips on a daily basis. We also have learned through this pandemic, that bus customers have relied on our services the most - 36% of the customers that used buses prior to COVID-19 are still using the system as compared to 19% of subway customers, as of the week ending June 26. As the city and GTHA re-opens and recovery begins, it is expected that people who have the resources and option to, will return to private vehicles, taxis or private transportation companies (PTCs) more quickly than to transit in order to maintain physical distance from others. The TTC’s surface transit network plays a critical role in moving people around Toronto and we must enhance its attractiveness to ensure it continues to provide a viable alternative to the automobile. A key initiative to achieve this is the implementation of bus transit lanes, which will provide customers with a safe, reliable and fast service. The TTC’s 5-Year Service Plan & 10-Year Outlook identified a 20-point action plan including Action 4.1 Explore Bus Transit Lanes. The TTC has worked with partner divisions at the City to develop the following prioritization and implementation plan for the five corridors identified in the Plan.

  • Transit Network Expansion
2051.8 For Action Transit Network Expansion Date: February 10, 2021 To: TTC Board From: Deputy Chief Executive Officer Chief Capital Officer Summary The TTC and its partners at Metrolinx, Infrastructure Ontario, the Province of Ontario, and the City of Toronto are in the midst of the largest transit network expansion program in decades. The TTC continues to play a key role in the planning, technical review, and implementation of all major transit expansion projects in Toronto and the region. These include the Toronto Light Rail Transit Program and the provincial priority subway projects, referred to collectively as the “Subways Program”: the Ontario Line; the Scarborough Subway Extension; the Yonge North Subway Extension; and the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension. By 2031, the TTC will operate a network of six subway and light rail transit lines and is expected to maintain the track, track and tunnel infrastructure, system wide systems, and fleet for the extensions to Lines 1 and 2. The TTC is in discussions with Metrolinx on roles and responsibilities for maintenance of stations infrastructure on the extensions to Lines 1 and 2 which will be evaluated through a business case analysis. The TTC is closely involved in all major transit projects in the City of Toronto during project delivery through provision of alternate service to manage route diversions and with transit development in adjacent municipalities recognizing links to existing and planned future TTC service. Safety, accessibility, and customer service will always be at the core of TTC operations. The TTC is responsible for the TTC customer experience and for a seamless end-to- end customer journey during transit expansion project delivery and as the network operator when the new line or line extension opens for service.

  • Child & Family Inequities Score
CHILD & FAMILY INEQUITIES SCORE Technical Report The Child & Family Inequities Score provides a neighbourhood-level measure of the socio-economic challenges that children and families experience. The Child & Family Inequities Score is a tool to help explain the variation in socio-economic status across the City of Toronto neighbourhoods. It will help service providers to understand the context of the neighbourhoods and communities that they serve. It will also help policy makers and researchers understand spatial inequities in child and family outcomes. While other composite measures of socio-economic status in the City exist, the Child & Family Inequities Score is unique because it uses indicators that are specific to families with children under the age of 12. The Child & Family Inequities Score is a summary measure derived from indicators which describe inequities experienced by the child and family population in each of Toronto’s 140 neighbourhoods. The Child & Family Inequities Score is comprised of 5 indicators: • Low Income Measure: Percent of families with an after-tax family income that falls below the Low Income Measure. • Parental Unemployment: Percent of families with at least one unemployed parent / caregiver. • Low Parental Education: Percent of families with at least one parent / caregiver that does not have a high school diploma. • No Knowledge of Official Language: Percent of families with no parents who have knowledge of either official language (English or French). 1 • Core Housing Need: Percent of families in core housing need . This report provides technical details on how the Child & Family Inequities Score was created and describes how the resulting score should be interpreted.
