Please be prepared for changes in street obstructions. For details on projects throughout Spokane County, visit www.srtc.org. Don’t compete. Share the street. Visit StickmanKnows.org for rules of the road and safety tips. Projects highlighted in RED have notable changes this week. Construction is tentative and subject to change at any time. CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS GEIGER BOULEVARD PHASE 2 FROM SODA TO GROVE ROAD Work on this project will start Monday, March 15. Geiger Boulevard from Flightline Boulevard to Soda Road will be closed with a detour in place. The project includes water and sewer main installation. This is a $1 million project. HAMILTON STREET CORRIDOR SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT Work on this project will resume Monday, March 15. Crews will be working at the intersections of Indiana Avenue and North Foothills Drive. There will be no left turns onto Indiana Avenue or North Foothills Drive. Hamilton will be reduced to one lane in each direction and motorists should anticipate delays. The project is designed to make safety and traffic flow improvements at six intersections, including the addition of dedicated left turn pockets and signals. This is a $3.3 million project funded with local and federal funds. NORTH SPOKANE CORRIDOR – CLEVELAND, GREENE, GRACE, JACKSON, RALPH Ralph Street is closed from Cleveland to Marietta Avenue. Local access will be maintained. This project will relocate city utilities associated with construction of the North South Corridor. This is a $5.6 million project funded with local funds. POST STREET BRIDGE REPLACEMENT The Post Street Bridge is closed. The intersection of Lincoln Street and Summit Boulevard is closed and half of the adjacent parking lot. Parking is limited on Post Street, and the Riverfront Park parking lot on Post just south of the bridge is closed. The bridge will open in 2022. See the detour routes for pedestrians and bicyclists. This project will replace the Post Street Bridge and associated utilities. This is an $18.5 million project. SOUTH GORGE TRAIL PHASE 2 Work on this project has resumed. The contractor is working on the Water Avenue stormwater pond. This project will construct a 10-foot wide pedestrian and bike trail, water main and pavement reconstruction of Clarke Ave, and stormwater mitigation at various locations. This is a $4 million project funded with local and state funds. NON-CITY OBSTRUCTIONS The northbound curb lane of Washington Street between Boone and Maxwell/Mission Avenue will be closed on 3/1/21 to 3/12/21 for Avista work. The intersection of Panorama Drive and Strong Road will be flagged all directions from 2/26/21 to 3/12/21 for Quanta work. The north curb lane of Main Avenue between Lincoln and Wall Street will be closed from 3/8/21 to 3/12/21 for Track Utilities work. The intersection of Hatch Road and 54th Avenue will be flagged in all directions from 2/15/21 to 3/15/21 for Avista work. The intersection of Crestline Street and 48th Avenue will be flagged in all directions from 2/15/21 to 3/15/21 for Avista work. The south curb lane of Spokane Falls Boulevard between Bernard and Washington Street will be closed from 2/15/21 to 3/15/21 for Avista work. Southwestern bound traffic will be closed at Southeast Boulevard and Cook Street with a detour in place on 3/15/21 for Avista Utilities work. Both curbside lanes of Hamilton Street between Montgomery and Marietta Avenue will be closed from 2/25/21 to 3/19/21 for Track Utilities work. The northbound curb lane of Howard Street between Boone and Mallon Avenue will be shifted into the median from 2/22/21 to 3/22/21 for Avista work. Indian Trail Road between Lowell and Kathleen Avenue will have lane restrictions from 3/1/21 to 3/22/21 for Quanta work. The two east lanes of Lincoln Street between Second and Main Avenue will be closed from 10/5/20 to 04/05/21 for Avista work. Both curb lanes of Nevada Street between Cozza Drive and Beacon Avenue will be closed and traffic flagged from 3/15/21 4/9/21 for Sefnco work. The northbound curb lane of Indian Trail Road between Woodside and Weile Avenue will be closed from 4/5/21 to 4/16/21 for Quanta work. The north curb lane of Sunset Boulevard will be closed between Government Way and Rustle Street from 3/29/21 to 4/29/21 for Sefnco Work. Flaggers will be on site. Central Avenue will be flagged between Lidgerwood and Division Street from 3/29/21 to 4/29/21 for Sefnco work. The north curb lane of First Avenue between Jefferson and Monroe Street will be closed from 3/22/21 to 4/30/21 for Cameron-Reilly work. SPOKANE PARKS AND RECREATION RIVERFRONT PARK CONSTRUCTION North Bank: Work on the North Bank playground, wheels park, parking lot, and basketball court continues, with plans for completion in summer 2021. West Havermale: The Providence Playscape, an inclusive playground funded by Providence Health Care is now open! A restored Theme Stream from Expo ’74 is also complete. Additional work continues in the area, including a maintenance yard, final pathway improvements, and installation of the StepWell art piece, slated for mid-2021. SPOKANE PUBLIC LIBRARY DOWNTOWN LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION Lincoln Street is closed between Spokane Falls Boulevard and Main Avenue until March 2022. The sidewalks adjacent to the downtown library on Main Avenue, Monroe Street, and Spokane Falls Boulevard are closed through March 2021. SPOKANE TRANSIT AUTHORITY CITY LINE CONSTRUCTION The following streets are closed to accommodate utility work for STA’s City Line. These closures will end in mid-April weather permitting. o Maple Street between First and Pacific Avenue o Pacific Avenue between Oak and Maple Street Starting Monday, March 15, the two southern lanes of Sprague Avenue between Monroe and Madison Street will be closed for utility work. One southbound lane of Division Street will be closed between Hawthorne Road and Holland Avenue until Friday, April 30 to accommodate sidewalk installation. STREET DEPARTMENT PROJECTS ALLEY CREW Alley crew is working on unimproved streets, when weather permits. POTHOLE CREWS City crews continue to fill potholes. If you see a pothole, report it by calling 3-1-1. Potholes can also be reported online through your MySpokane account. Crews focus on the largest holes on the busiest streets first. Include as much information as possible on the location and size of the pothole. STREET SWEEPING All sweeping crews are working on arterial routes. ADDITIONAL WORK Bridge crews will be working on various bridges to clear drains, as well as other projects. WASHINGTON STATE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (WSDOT) NORTH SPOKANE CORRIDOR-US 395/NSC BNSF 2ND RAILROAD REALIGNMENT Wellesley Avenue is closed between Market and Freya Street. The following streets are permanently closed: o Bridgeport, Cleveland and Fairview Avenue between Ralph and Market Street o Grace, Marietta, and Jackson Avenue between Ralph and Greene Street Drivers have east/west access on Francis, Upriver, Carlisle, and Euclid Avenue. This project will realign the BNSF railroad tracks in north Spokane for the future US 395 highway. NORTH SPOKANE CORRIDOR-US 395/NSC SPRAGUE TO SPOKANE RIVER – PHASE 1 This project is expected to begin on Monday, March 15. Construction is expected to last two construction seasons. This project will construct the skyway portion of the North Spokane Corridor that traverses over Spokane Community College (Mission to Ermina Avenue).
