The South Alabama Soccer Association, a recreational, amateur league that plays in Mobile’s Sage Avenue Park, currently has over 20 teams playing in four divisions of soccer. These are 220 potential players to create AFC Mobile’s first team roster.

Barbasol, Xbox, and Quaker Oats all feature as major sponsors for soccer teams in America. Major sponsors in soccer feature on the fronts of team uniforms, which in turn are worn by fans to games and as casual attire.

An amateur team in Chattanooga, TN hosted the national championship to a crowd of over 18,000. Amateur teams in Grand Rapids, MI, Des Moines, San Francisco, Detroit, and many more average over 1,000 fans per game. These places have proven that even amateur soccer can have devoted, passionate fan bases.

Our fan base

Our fans and supporters come from several different places. The primary demographic is males ages 18- 35 from Mobile and Baldwin County, AL. We additionally have a large fan base in Pensacola, FL and Birmingham, AL, as well as New Orleans, LA and the Biloxi-Gulfport, MS metropolitan area. We will promote an affordable, family-friendly environment, in addition to an entertainment venue for the passionate soccer fan. All are welcome. All will have fun.

2017-18 Season

The 2017-18 season will be a mixture of competitive and exhibition games played in Mobile and Baldwin County, AL as well as in Mississippi, the Florida Panhandle, and the Gulf Coast of Louisiana.

The goal is to join the Louisiana Premier League (LPL), which is soon to be re-branded as the Gulf Coast Premier League. The Louisiana Soccer Association formed the Louisiana Premier League in 2014. The League’s mission is to offer a highly competitive atmosphere to players aged 16 and older, as well as create a soccer club culture throughout the state.

On March 10, 2016 the LPL was granted Elite Amateur League status by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). The USASA and the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) currently recognize the LPL as a 5th division league.

AFC Mobile plans to start play in the 2017 LPL Summer Season and again for the 2017-18 LPL Fall Season. The Summer Season begins in May 2017 and ends in July 2017. The Fall Season begins in November 2017 and end April 2018.
