Peter Regenstreif A THREAT TO LEADERSHIP: C.A.Dunning and Mackenzie King BY Now mE STORY of the Progressive revolt and its impact on the Canadian national party system during the 1920's is well documented and known. Various studies, from the pioneering effort of W. L. Morton1 over a decade ago to the second volume of the Mackenzie King official biography2 which has recently appeared, have dealt intensively with the social and economic bases of the movement, the attitudes of its leaders to the institutions and practices of national politics, and the behaviour of its representatives once they arrived in Ottawa. Particularly in biographical analyses, 3 a great deal of attention has also been given to the response of the established leaders and parties to this disrupting influence. It is clearly accepted that the roots of the subsequent multi-party situation in Canada can be traced directly to a specific strain of thought and action underlying the Progressivism of that era. At another level, however, the abatement of the Pro~ gressive tide and the manner of its dispersal by the end of the twenties form the basis for an important piece of Canadian political lore: it is the conventional wisdom that, in his masterful handling of the Progressives, Mackenzie King knew exactly where he was going and that, at all times, matters were under his complete control, much as if the other actors in the play were mere marionettes with King the manipu­ lator. His official biographers have demonstrated just how illusory this conception is and there is little to be added to their efforts on this score.

    !^W.'UJtf"-V^j! _j my I'm Special i I'm special. In all the world there's nobody like me. Since the beginning of time, there has never been another person like me. Nobody has my smile. Nobody has my eyes, my nose, my hair, my voice. I'm special. No one can be found who has my handwriting. Nobody anywhere has my tastes - for food or music or art. no one sees things just as I do. In all of time there's been no one who laughs like me, no one who cries like me. And what makes me laugh and cry will never provoke identical laughter and tears from anybody else, ever. No one reacts to any situation just as I would react. I'm special. I'm the only one in all of creation who has my set of abilities. Oh, there will always be somebody who is better at one of the things I'm good at, but no one in the universe can reach the quality of my com­ bination of talents, ideas, abilities and feelings. Like a room full of musical instruments, some may excel alone, but none can match the symphony of sound when all are played together. I'm a symphony. Through all of eternity no one will ever look, talk, walk, think or do like me. I'm special. I'm rare. And in rarity there is great value. Because of my great rare value, I need not attempt to imitate others. I willl accept - yes, celebrate - my differences.

Using a qualitative assessment of the events leading up to election day and data from an online vote compass gathered during the campaign period, it argues that the popularity of the incumbent Premier, Brad Wall, was the decisive factor explaining the Saskatchewan Party’s success. Résumé Ce texte examine de près les dynamiques de la campagne et le comportement des électeurs lors des élections provinciales de 2016 en Saskatchewan. On fait une évaluation qualitative des événements qui ont précédé le jour du scrutin et une analyse des données d’une boussole de vote en ligne recueillies au cours de la campagne électorale.     IMMEDIATE RELEASE Dec. 5, 2014 Education NEW K-12 SCHOOL BREAKING GROUND IN LANGENBURG Today Melville-Saltcoats MLA Bob Bjornerud, on behalf of Education Minister Don Morgan, joined students, dignitaries and representatives from the Good Spirit School Division to celebrate the start of construction on the brand new school in Langenburg. The Government of Saskatchewan has committed $23 million toward this project. “This new school will offer a modern learning environment for students in the growing community of Langenburg,” Bjornerud said. “The success of each and every Saskatchewan student is a high priority for our government, and we know that building schools and investing in education will positively impact the future of all students and early learners.” Designed with an innovative approach, the new school will be equipped with room for almost 400 students ranging from Pre- Kindergarten to Grade 12 and will feature open concept learning spaces allowing for more natural light, a large gymnasium and multi-purpose room that are connected to a large stage, a fitness room, practical and applied arts spaces and a science lab. “Any type of major construction in a community is a welcome addition but, sincerely, there can’t be anything more exciting than building an entirely new school from scratch,” Good Spirit School Division Board Chair Lois Smandych said. “If you close your eyes and imagine what will be standing here in less than two years, you can practically see and feel the profound difference this will have for our students.” Students Alanna Decorby and Breanna Popp represented the Langenburg High School student body as well as the graduating class of 2017, the first class that will graduate from the new school.
