Rippin Sindher (director, writer, producer, actor) grew up in Selma, California. After graduating from UCLA, she worked for the Directors Guild of America. She directed, wrote, produced and acted in The Hideout, showcased in the American Cinematheque’s 2018 Focus on Female Directors program at the Egyptian Theatre. She was a finalist for the AFI's Directing Workshop for Women and the Sundance New Voices Lab with her latest Indian- American comedy pilot entitled Prospect. She earned the Emerging Filmmaker Award at Festival Angaelica and The Hideout was an official selection at LA Shorts International Film Festival, Long Beach Indie (where it was nominated for Best Narrative Short—Musical), New York Indian Film Festival, San Antonio Film Festival and Mosaic International South Asian Film Festival in Canada, among others. She created the YouTube web series, The Man of Mystery, produced by her brother Gurinder Sindher (Issa Rae’s Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl). She also recently directed an episode of His & Hers for PlugTV. A collaborator with Pelican House Productions, Rippin has worked on numerous commercials and recently, The Virgin Deal. Rippin was named Top 50 Influential South Asians of 2017 and was a panelist for the 2017 SikhLens Creative Sikhs Roundtable. She is actively involved with Film Independent and mentors teen girls for the non-profit, Writegirl. Her work has been published in EmoFonal Maps of Los Angeles. She is the recipient of the UCLA Women Leaders Award and was the Central California representative for the Hugh O’Brian World Leadership Congress in Washington DC.
