A Few Problems I Have with Cable TV Political Reporting During the 2020 Presidential Election Season (Actually, Many Problems Would Be Truthful)
A Few Problems I Have With Cable TV Political Reporting During The 2020 Presidential Election Season (Actually, Many Problems Would Be Truthful) (Author’s Note: This is the second in a series of occasional political columns that I’ll be writing for CommPRO.biz until Inauguration Day, January 20. Previously, I wrote 17 political columns leading up to Election Day. FYI – My first public relations job was with a political firm, where I worked on local, statewide and presidential campaigns. In this column, I opine why cable news political coverage is below par. The cut- off date for this article was to be the day of President Trump’s first presser after his election defeat, which was the day this was written, November 13,) Arthur Solomon Do cable news reporters mislead viewers because they don’t know the facts of what they are reporting? Or are they instructed to limit facts of a story by their producers to keep viewers’ interested and lure them back as a soap opera does for more? Or is it that the reporters and producers only read the first few paragraphs of the New York Times, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal for their stories,(in lieu of original reporting), which provides enough factual information for the usual headline type cable news report? In any event, what they report is too often incomplete or inaccurate, or even worse, simply pundits’ conjecturing as they attempt to show the audience how smart they are, when history shows – remember how their 2106 and 2020 Democratic wave elections turned out – the great majority of their gibberish is as accurate as Trump’s claim that the election was stolen from him. -
Officials Say Flynn Discussed Sanctions
Officials say Flynn discussed sanctions The Washington Post February 10, 2017 Friday, Met 2 Edition Copyright 2017 The Washington Post All Rights Reserved Distribution: Every Zone Section: A-SECTION; Pg. A08 Length: 1971 words Byline: Greg Miller;Adam Entous;Ellen Nakashima Body Talks with Russia envoy said to have occurred before Trump took office National security adviser Michael Flynn privately discussed U.S. sanctions against Russia with that country's ambassador to the United States during the month before President Trump took office, contrary to public assertions by Trump officials, current and former U.S. officials said. Flynn's communications with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak were interpreted by some senior U.S. officials as an inappropriate and potentially illegal signal to the Kremlin that it could expect a reprieve from sanctions that were being imposed by the Obama administration in late December to punish Russia for its alleged interference in the 2016 election. Flynn on Wednesday denied that he had discussed sanctions with Kislyak. Asked in an interview whether he had ever done so, he twice said, "No." On Thursday, Flynn, through his spokesman, backed away from the denial. The spokesman said Flynn "indicated that while he had no recollection of discussing sanctions, he couldn't be certain that the topic never came up." Officials said this week that the FBI is continuing to examine Flynn's communications with Kislyak. Several officials emphasized that while sanctions were discussed, they did not see evidence that Flynn had an intent to convey an explicit promise to take action after the inauguration. Flynn's contacts with the ambassador attracted attention within the Obama administration because of the timing. -

July 15, 2020 Chris Cuomo ℅ CNN Press Room 30 Hudson Yards, Fl 21 New York, NY 10001 Thank you for sharing your health journey Dear Mr. Cuomo, I reluctantly admit I haven’t been watching much TV news lately. Sometimes, the news is just too much to bear. My sense of dread is compounded by my nearly 12 year struggle as caregiver for a loved one with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, also called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or ME/CFS. There are times when it’s really hard to keep going. The world feels exceptionally dark right now. And yet, last night you gave me hope. And, for that I am in your debt. During your Tuesday segment, you opened up about your personal experiences and challenging health journey since contracting COVID-19. You courageously shared your personal and firsthand concerns related to ME/CFS, intimately described the symptoms of the post-viral disease, and illustrated their very real impacts on daily life. As a result, you gave a voice to COVID-19 “long haulers” who live in fear of an uncertain future, terrified that they may never recover their health. You even used the appropriate name of the disease, ME—a rare acknowledgement by a national news outlet. By sharing your own journey, you lent a trusted, credible voice of reassurance and validation, for so many, that this experience is real. The segment may have been only a few minutes, but you spoke volumes to a community that faces daily hardships. In short, you told millions of people with ME/CFS, and those with lasting COVID-19 symptoms, that they aren’t alone or crazy. -

U.S. Role in the World: Background and Issues for Congress
U.S. Role in the World: Background and Issues for Congress Ronald O'Rourke Specialist in Naval Affairs Michael Moodie Assistant Director and Senior Specialist in Foreign Affairs, Defense and Trade Updated February 24, 2020 Congressional Research Service 7-.... www.crs.gov R44891 U.S. Role in the World: Background and Issues for Congress Summary The U.S. role in the world refers to the overall character, purpose, or direction of U.S. participation in international affairs and the country’s overall relationship to the rest of the world. The U.S. role in the world can be viewed as establishing the overall context or framework for U.S. policymakers for developing, implementing, and measuring the success of U.S. policies and actions on specific international issues, and for foreign countries or other observers for interpreting and understanding U.S. actions on the world stage. While descriptions of the U.S. role in the world since the end of World War II vary in their specifics, it can be described in general terms as consisting of four key elements: global leadership; defense and promotion of the liberal international order; defense and promotion of freedom, democracy, and human rights; and prevention of the emergence of regional hegemons in Eurasia. The issue for Congress is whether the U.S. role in the world is changing, and if so, what implications this might have for the United States and the world. A change in the U.S. role could have significant and even profound effects on U.S. security, freedom, and prosperity. It could significantly affect U.S. -

McKECHNIE* ABSTRACT Modern US. presidents have chosen their words meticulously and deliberately, with the assistance of aides and speechwriters, all with a view toward how their message would be delivered and understood. Rarely has the electorate had access to the unvarnished thoughts of a president. At times, secretly recorded conversations in the White House have allowed Americans to hear the unabashed thoughts of various presidents. However, save for the Watergate scandal, those recordings had no immediate, discernible democratic impact because they were released years after the presidents' words were recorded. The recordings are noteworthy because they capture presidents'musings in the private sphere, where one is more secure and more likely to engage in self-reflective, authentic expression. -

Pizzagate / Pedogate, a No-Nonsense Fact-Filled Reader
Pizzagate / Pedogate A No-nonsense Fact-filled reader Preface I therefore determine that serious human rights abuse and corruption around the world constitute an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States, and I hereby declare a national emergency to deal with that threat. —Trump Executive Order 13818, Dec. 20, 2017 Pizzagate means many things to many people, the angle of the lens may be different, but the focus zeros in on a common body of incontestable facts. The fruit of top researchers collected in this reader allows you to compare, correlate and derive a flexible synthesis to suit your needs. An era of wild contradiction is upon us in the press. The psychopathic rumblings that pass for political discourse bring the artform of infotainment to a golden blossoming. There were no big donors from China and the traditional bank of puppeteers. This created a HUGE problem, one whose solution threatened the money holders and influence peddlers. New leadership and a presidential order that threw down the gauntlet, a state of emergency, seeded the storm clouds. The starting gun was fired, all systems were go, the race had begun. FISAs and covert operations sprang into action. The envelopes are being delivered, the career decisions are being made, should I move on or stay the course. -
