2014 Baseball All-OAC Teams and Special Award Winners

Dr. Bob Fisher OAC Player-of-the-Year

Heidelberg sophomore outfielder Derek Hug (Bryan) has been named the 2014 Dr. Bob Fisher OAC Player-of-the-Year. Heading into the OAC Tournament, Hug ranked among the top in the Conference with a .412 batting average. In 160 at-bats, he tallied 66 hits and 48 RBI, with 48 runs 12 doubles, seven triples, and three homeruns. He has earned First Team All-OAC honors. This is the second presentation of the Dr. Bob Fisher Award. Fisher retired in 2010 after 42 years at the helm of the Baldwin Wallace baseball program. Coach Fisher was the winningest coach in the history of the College with 700 career wins (700-641-14 overall).

Kent Tekulve OAC -of-the-Year

Marietta sophomore Christian Herstine (Beaver, Pa. / Beaver Area) has been named the 2014 Kent Tekulve Pitcher-of-the-Year. During the regular season, Herstine recorded an 8-1 record in 12 appearances. After 74 innings of work, Herstine carried a 0.96 earned-run average with 44 hits, 13 runs, and 68 strike outs. He has been named First Team All-OAC. This is the 16th year in which this honor has been presented. The award is named after 1969 Marietta graduate Kent Tekulve, who spent 21 seasons playing , including 17 seasons with the . He was a key member of the Pirates' 1979 championship team, setting a major league record with three saves in the series against Baltimore. He broke 's record of 1,018 career relief appearances. Tekulve finished his professional career with 1,050 games played, 184 saves and a 94-90 record.
