WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WICHITA, KS -- The 2011 All-Conference Women's Basketball Teams of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference have been selected by the ten women's head coaches. Coach-of-the-year is Lonnie Kruse of Sterling College “Lady Warriors,” the regular-season KCAC co-champions. Named "Player-of-the-year" is senior Britany Gaspar of Sterling College. The "Freshman-of-the-year" is freshman Laura Patrick of Sterling College, and "Newcomer-of-the-year” is junior Brett Bates of Southwestern College. Again this year in addition to First Team and Honorable Mention, both an All-Defense Team and an All-Freshman Team were selected by the coaches. Sterling College and Kansas Wesleyan University were this year’s KCAC women’s co-champions from the regular-season, with Sterling conference records of 16-2 KCAC and 24-4 overall and KWU conference records of 16-2 KCAC and 27-2 overall (prior to post-season competition). The team which wins the KCAC eighteenth annual KCAC post-season women's tournament (Feb. 24-28) will be the KCAC affiliated conference primary and automatic representative team to the NAIA Division II national championship tournament March 9-15, in the 32-team national tournament at Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena in Sioux City, , hosted by Sioux City Events & Facilities Bureau. Because the KCAC is a ten-team conference, a second team from the KCAC Conference also will receive a berth to the NAIA national championship tournament — the highest seeded team not winning the KCAC Tournament regardless of finish in the tournament. In addition, it is possible that the NAIA also will select an “at-large” team from the KCAC Conference for the national championship tournament.

The complete All-KCAC women's basketball team and honor lists for 2011 are:

The ten independent colleges of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, commonly called “The Kansas Conference,” have combined student enrollments well over 10,000. The KCAC Conference traces roots back to February 15, 1890, when the Kansas Intercollegiate Athletic Association resulted from first successful attempt at organization among Kansas colleges, "to promote and regulate amateur intercollegiate athletics." The present KCAC legal entity comes from a reorganization of the conference on December 1, 1928.

The KCAC continues to be the only all-Kansas intercollegiate conference of the state’s four- year colleges and universities.
