This is a place with miles of welcoming, un- crowded runs, open tree skiing and 1840 feet of vertical. Enjoy easy access from lot to lift, award- winning ski schools for all ages and ability levels, the best value for lift tickets and the most breathtaking views of Lake Tahoe. Our Crystal Ridge trail was voted in CNN Travel’s “Top 100 World’s Best Ski Runs” due to its’ incredible views. New this season, Diamond Peak features better grooming technology, a new learn to ski and ride program, and improved tree skiing. New this season, we have improved grooming and snowmaking capabilities and great deals to give skiers and riders the best snow experience at Diamond Peak. Diamond Peak is introducing new snow cats with ‘Snowsat’ technology, giving Diamond Peak the ability to track all aspects of the operation including run time, gas consumption, GPS tracking on the mountain, and service maintenance. Snowsat- installed cats can be tracked real-time, so the grooming supervisors/managers always know the location of the fleet on the mountain. This season, the resort will also be testing new low energy snow guns that use 1/4 th of the compressed air needed for the older guns. These guns are expected to be 5-9 times more efficient, moving water at a more resourceful rate. Guests at Diamond Peak can take advantage of amazing deals, stretching out a ski vacation longer without breaking the bank. Enjoy incredible ticket deals like the Flex Pass (available in 2-7 day increments, fully transferable, and direct-to-lift access), the BYOP offer (a $35 lift ticket if you bring a season pass from another resort), or the affordable $64/$69 Adult lift ticket rate. Kids 6 and under ski free at Diamond Peak, so a couple with young kids can ski for as little as $128 (based on two Adult tickets and two tickets for kids ages 6 and under). After the slopes, guests may turn in their ticket stubs at the Recreation Center to get ½ off a daily fee to enjoy the 8-lane indoor swimming pool, sauna, massages and fitness equipment. The Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, located just minutes away from Diamond Peak, offers great ski and stay packages with an après atmosphere by the lake. With 655 acres of terrain and incredible views of Lake Tahoe, Diamond Peak still proves to be North Lake Tahoe’s hidden gem. Here are some reasons to visit Diamond Peak this winter: National Debut of SNOWsat Grooming Technology Diamond Peak will be the first grooming fleet in the country with PistenBully’s new SNOWsat technology. Two new PistenBully winch cat and Park Pro snowcats, along with the remaining existing fleet, will be outfitted with this innovative technology to produce optimum slope quality, efficiently and safety. These GPS-enhanced snow groomers generate a cartographic image of the slopes used to accurately measure snow depths and ensure the best coverage for skiers and riders. Coupled with a GIS mapping system, the two cats with SNOWsatZ will also allow operators to more safely groom during whiteout conditions. SNOWsat aids with snowmaking accuracy thus minimizing environmental impact and conserving natural resources. PistenBully snowcats are at the forefront of the industry worldwide and were used in the 2014 Olympics. MEDIA CONTACT: Kayla Anderson, Marketing Manager (775) 832-1120, [email protected] Diamond Peak Ski Resort History From Ski Incline to Diamond Peak Diamond Peak Ski Resort began in 1966 as Ski Incline, the brain child of Oklahoma native Art Wood. Wood had a master plan for a year-round, resort community at Lake Tahoe. Incline Village was to become the “Pebble Beach” of the Sierra. In 1966, Wood hired Austrian ski consultant, Luggi Foeger, to design and build Ski Incline. In November, after only four months of construction, Ski Incline opened its lifts, boasting the only snowmaking equipment in the West. In 1987, Ski Resort Manager Jurgen Wetzstein led the development of the upper mountain and the addition of a mile-long chairlift to reach the top of the peak. This expansion doubled Ski Incline’s skiable acreage and added more advanced terrain. With the increased acreage, the resort extended the snowmaking system to cover the upper mountain along with adding more grooming equipment. Since most of the new trails were labeled “black diamond,” Ski Incline was re-named Diamond Peak.
