The Federal National Council Passes a Law on Endowment )Monthly Islamic & Cultural Magazine( Issued by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments Year 44th - Jan. 2018 -Issue 517 The Federal National Council passes a law on endowment Forum for Promoting Peace: A platform echoing farther across continents O Allah, the Emirates of Giving! Every day a new dawn greeting you with a bright smile and every day you are showering down the world with plenty of benevolence and a host of initiatives echoing farther across oceans and continents. O, the Emirates of happiness and peace deeply embedded in the days of the wise leader, the late Sheikh Zayed, as we draw closer to a new year and we engrave on its beginning words of fragrance and shinning light, Year of Zayed, the Benevolent. In this respect, what would the Arab poet, Abu Tayeb say if he were to live one day in the era of a wise man of his time, Sheikh Zayed? He would write a poem praising a man who set up a strategy for a prosperous country and left behind a well-deserved reputation around the world. He would write a poem hailing his benevolence and charity, which have never ceased like a rainy cloud irrigating land even after his demise, and his grave is like a cloud carrying water providing for humankind. Let the words fly free in the sky of the Emirates because the words have voices that are heard globally speaking of peace and tolerance. The Forum of Promot- ing Peace in Muslim Societies brings about people of intellect and understanding from every corner of the globe and its leaders who are in love with the essence of religion belonging to the Abrahamic and non-Abrahamic family. Those who strive to make a decent living for people throng from all over the world to attend the Forum and explore the Emirati example regarding the human co-existence among hundreds of nationalities. Is not this an example of co-existence and coop- eration? O Allah, the Emirates of tolerance, co-existence and moderation! There is no place for courtesies at the expense of the legitimate rights of indi- viduals, communities and countries, justice must be established, and the divine messages are merely guidelines for justice and the values of security, happiness and peace. There is also no place in religion for extremism, violence and viola- tion for the sanctities or the abuse of policies. At the Forum for Promoting Peace, around 700 scholars, thinkers, experts and people of intellect met on the soil of the Emirates to say: No to hatred and bigotry, No to terrorism and warring, No to everything that may spoil the security of communities or to anyone who may think to stir up seditions. The UAE will continue to support the Arab identity of Jerusalem and the le- gal status that is approved by the United Nations in a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and also voiced by HE Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, in his speech at the 4th edition of Forum for Pro- moting Peace. The role of Emirati women in journalism has been and remains anonymous. They are rarely seen taking part in this field, in comparison with their peers in other states in the Arabian Peninsula, particularly in Kuwait and Bahrain, where women have reported on complex political and social issues since the 1960s and 1970s.

  • Regional Power United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi Is No Longer Saudi Arabia's Junior Partner
SWP Research Paper Guido Steinberg Regional Power United Arab Emirates Abu Dhabi Is No Longer Saudi Arabia’s Junior Partner Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik German Institute for International and Security Affairs SWP Research Paper 10 July 2020, Berlin Abstract ∎ Since the Arab Spring of 2011, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been pursuing an increasingly active foreign and security policy and have emerged as a leading regional power. ∎ The UAE sees the Muslim Brotherhood as a serious threat to regime sta- bility at home, and is fighting the organisation and its affiliated groups throughout the Arab world. ∎ The UAE’s preferred partners in regional policy are authoritarian rulers who take a critical view of political Islam and combat the Muslim Brother- hood. ∎ The new Emirati regional policy is also directed against Iranian expansion in the Middle East. Yet the anti-Iranian dimension of Emirati foreign policy is considerably less pronounced than its anti-Islamist dimension. ∎ The UAE wants to gain control of sea routes from the Gulf of Aden to the Red Sea. Since the Yemen conflict began in 2015, it has established a small maritime empire there. ∎ The rise of the UAE to a regional power has made the country a more im- portant and simultaneously a more problematic policy partner for Ger- many and Europe.
