Guaranteed Bonds due 2042 Guaranteed by Northumbrian Water Limited (Incorporated in England and Wales with limited liability) Issue Price: 99.396 per cent. The issue price of the £360,000,000 5.125 per cent. Guaranteed Bonds due 2042 (the “Bonds”) is 99.396 per cent. The Bonds will mature on 23 January 2042. The Bonds will be issued in bearer form in denominations of £100,000 and integral multiples of £1,000 in excess thereof, up to and including £199,000. See “Terms and Conditions of the Bonds — Form, Denomination and Title”. Interest on the Bonds will be payable annually in arrear on 23 January in each year, on their outstanding principal amount, with the first such payment being due on 23 January 2013. Payments of principal, any premium and interest on the Bonds will be made without withholding or deduction of United Kingdom taxes unless such withholding or deduction is required by law, as more fully described under “Terms and Conditions of the Bonds - Taxation”. The Bonds may not be redeemed prior to 23 January 2042, except as mentioned below. Northumbrian Water Finance Plc (the “Issuer”) may, at its option, redeem the Bonds in whole, but not in part, at any time at a price which shall be the higher of their outstanding principal amount and an amount calculated by reference to the yield on the relevant United Kingdom government stock, in each case together with accrued interest, as more fully described under “Terms and Conditions of the Bonds — Redemption at the option of the Issuer”. -

Press Release Utility Networks Partnership 24 June 2020 United front by utilities to help customers in vulnerable situations People who need extra help during a water, electricity or gas emergency will benefit from a new partnership approach by 12 utility companies. They have created a joint video to promote the Priority Services Register, a service that all utilities provide for people needing extra support for a variety of reasons. The companies involved are all members of the Utility Networks Partnership and are already working closely together to help customers living in vulnerable circumstances. They are Affinity Water, Anglian Water, Northumbrian Water, Essex and Suffolk Water, SES Water, SGN, South East Water, Southern Water, Thames Water, UK Power Networks Cadent Gas and Cambridge Water. Andy Clowes, Head of Customer Insight and Strategy, South East Water said: “Taking care of our customers is at the heart of everything we do. “That’s why across the utility sector we have come together to make the Priority Services Register even easier to use, giving our customers extra support when they need it most. It’s completely free of charge and it’s simple to sign up.” Kerry Potter, UK Power Networks’ consumer vulnerability manager, who chairs the Utility Networks Partnership, said: “It’s fantastic to work as a team to create a new video promoting the Priority Services Register which is making it easier for eligible people to get support. Planning Advice for Integrated Water Management’ Note Shows Planners What Is Possible in Practice
Prepared as part of the Cambridge Natural Capital Leaders Platform Sink or Swim Water Collaboratory Summary Many planners do not think about water issues in a joined-up way, and until now there has been no single source of information on how the water sector works. There is a growing awareness of the important role of planning in joining up land use and water management. But there is a need to get the message across to planners that water is important and getting involved in partnerships to manage water will bring many benefits. The ‘Planning Advice for Integrated Water Management’ note shows planners what is possible in practice. This ‘Supplementary Case Studies’ document highlights the case studies, drawn from across the water sector, that support each section ranging from managing surface water and flood risk and enhancing biodiversity to providing housing, business development and infrastructure needs. It aims to empower planners to engage with water issues and encourage innovation in meeting development needs in a more sustainable way. INTRODUCTION 1.1 Urban Water Management (UWM) issues in Birmingham Birmingham is reputed to have the tastiest tap-water in Britain and it certainly has plenty of it. Why was a city with excellent drinking water selected to participate in an international project addressing problems in urban water management? In fact, Birmingham has too much water. Since 1904, its main water supply has been imported through a 118 km pipeline from the Elan Valley in South Wales. After use by households and industry, this water is treated and then discharged into the city’s water courses. Leakage of the imported water from the supply and wastewater systems has contributed to the city’s rising groundwater table and has increasingly posed risks to property. Until the decline in British manufacturing industry, Birmingham was the UK’s centre for engineering, and many factories extracted groundwater for heavy industrial use. Current groundwater exploitation is much reduced from its historical peak, adding to the problem of high groundwater levels. Large areas of the city have impervious surfaces, including roofs, that don’t soak up water, so when it rains these increase the risk of local flooding. Climate change carries a higher likelihood of intense rainfall which contributes to an increased local flooding risk. 1 Darteh, B. et al. 2010. Best Practices Northumbrian Water Transforming Field Service with Mobile Workforce Management Roberta Bigliani Jean-François Segalotto IDC ENERGY INSIGHTS OPINION Northumbrian Water Limited (NWL) is a water and sewerage company supplying water and wastewater services to 2.7 million customers in the northeast of England as Northumbrian Water, and water services to 1.8 million customers in parts of Essex, Suffolk, and Norfolk as Essex & Suffolk Water. As part of its vision to be the U.K.'s leading water and wastewater company, in 2012 NWL embarked on a program aimed at transforming field service operations. The objective was to implement significant and sustainable improvements to field service operations by designing and implementing changes to NWL processes and technology to ensure that the company delivers work at the right time with the right people in the right place. Key features of the program include the following: . The development of a transformative operational business vision of field services jointly executed by business and IT in four months as the foundation for change. The deployment of a consistent end-to-end field service management process across the serviced territory. The implementation of a new mobile workforce solution executed in about 15 months by Infosys in collaboration with NWL using Oracle Utilities Mobile Workforce Management (OUMWM) software. The solution has been in operation since November 2014. While still in deployment the field service program generated financial benefits of about £1.2 million. Even more is expected in the future considering the project is improving productivity in planning, scheduling, execution, and completion of works.
