Rising To The Challenge Today, the challenge facing Puncak Niaga is not only to deliver an abundant supply of high quality water without interruptions. It is also to give back to society and to protect the environment for the benefit of future generations. Striking a balance between these two objectives is our prime focus. As the communities of Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya continue to expand, the demand for water rapidly increases. Our goal is both to meet this growing demand and to continuously enhance the calibre of our operations. To this end, PNSB is rolling out a Continual Improvement Programme, while SYABAS has started to implement a wide-ranging Water Quality Improvement Master Plan. These initiatives are amply supported by a substantial investment in research and development. At the same time, we constantly deepen our commitment to fulfilling our social responsibilities and safeguarding the natural world. In 2007, we continued to embrace innovative technologies that enhance water quality; and we extended our programmes dedicated to educating the young on the importance of the conservation of our environment, and especially our nation’s rivers. 1 Annual Report 2007 Our Vision TO BE THE LEADING AND DYNAMIC INTEGRATED WATER SERVICES COMPANY Our Mission To provide a synergy of socio-economic products and services in the realm of water treatment, management and distribution, and other related businesses.

  • Alienation of Lands for Housing Development Projects: Some Emerging Legal Issues in Malaysia
23-25 November, 2011 Ho Chi Minh Vietna ALIENATION OF LANDS FOR HOUSING DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS: SOME EMERGING LEGAL ISSUES IN MALAYSIA Dr. Nuarrual Hilal Md-Dahlan ABSTRACT. A housing developer needs land to develop it into housing development project. The land which is to be developed into housing development project may be originally owned by the housing developer itself or the developer got it through purchase from interested seller or through alienation of land disposed by the State Authority. The alienation of land is made on the approval of the State Authority the application to alienate land of the applicant housing developers. There are cases whereby the State Authority approved the applications to alienate land to applicant housing developers without taking into consideration, seriously, the capability of the applicant housing developers concerned in carrying out the intended housing development projects and the suitability of the project locations. These incapability and unsuitability, to the extreme cases, may result in the abandonment of housing development projects. The questions are: Why had the State Authority approved the applications to alienate lands to incapable housing developers and alienate unsuitable lands for housing development projects? What are the powers, responsibility and liability of the State Authority in alienating lands to applicant housing developers for housing development projects? This paper discusses the scenarios happening in Malaysia in regard to the powers and responsibilities of the State Authority in alienating lands for housing development projects to applicant housing developers. The method of research are by way of legal case studies of two abandoned housing projects in Malaysia.

Health, safety, security, environment and social responsibility are of utmost importance when operating in the oil and gas industry. Amidst an evolving and shifting industry landscape, these aspects play an even more important role in increasing efficiency, productivity and cost-effectiveness. The industry needs to re-examine and challenge current practices while managing stakeholders’ expectations, especially in the current shifting landscape. As a growing region, we need to continuously optimise development and production solutions and resources while maintaining high safety and environmental standards. We need to learn from the past and innovate for the future. Themed “Stepping Up in the New Norm”, this conference is a strategic platform where energy professionals meet to discuss, debate and share the latest technological advancements, technical knowledge and lessons learnt to improve efficiency and remain sustainable collectively across the entire value chain in the new norm.
