The perennial herbaceous border planted last year has burst into life and has been extended to cover the beds towards the Town Hall. The ‘Midsomer Norton’ town name in fl owers which proved such a talking point last year is to feature again this year – with some minor improvements. “It was whilst I was working in front of the original Hollies House that the idea came to plant box hedging in this area to create the feel of a more formal 18th century garden. The garden nearest the old Hollies Chamber will form the basis of commemorative displays for the town – starting with the launch of the Midsomer Norton Community Trust in 2013 (see pages 4 and 5)

The Hollies Bee Initiative Several residents have asked if we could do something in the town to raise awareness of the alarming drop in bee numbers. In response, a model of a bee hive has been included in the main fl oral display in the Hollies and local school children will be invited to come and learn about the importance of bees and the types of plants and fl owers they like best.
