The Four Freshmen

Friday The Four Freshmen is an American male vocal band quartet that blends open-harmonic September 9, 2016 jazz arrangements with the big band vocal group sounds of The Modernaires (Glenn Miller), The Pied Pipers (Tommy Dorsey), and Organized at the Arthur The Mel-Tones (Artie Shaw). They were one of Jordan Conservatory at the top vocal groups of the 1950’s, and formed Butler University, Indiana by the bridge between ‘40s ensembles like the brothers, Ross and Don Mel-Tones and harmony based rock & roll bands such as the Beach Boys, as well as, Barbour. groups like Spanky & Our Gang and the Manhattan Transfer.

Their songs include: “It’s A Blue World” Their repertoire centered on standards such as “Mood Indigo” “Moonglow” and “The Christmas Song,” “Day By Day” and they began to show an unusually free, “Graduation Day” improvisational approach to their harmony “Angel Eyes” singing. Originally formed by brothers Ross & “I Remember You” Don Barbour, they were later joined by cousin, “Charmaine” Bob Flanigan alongside Hal Kratzsch, and “The Last Time I Saw Paris” suddenly the Four Freshmen were assembled ‘Somebody Loves Me” in all but name.

They have recorded jazz harmonies since its founding in the halls of the Jordan School of Music at Butler University (Indianapolis).

Our coach departs St. Michael’s Church parking lot at 10:15 am Friday morning. Lunch will be served family style at Croatian Lodge Ballroom in Eastlake, Ohio prior to the show.

Following the show we will head our coach back to Canton for a 5:30 pm return to St. Michael’s Church parking lot.

St. Michael’s Church parking lot is located at 3534 St. Michael’s Blvd., Canton, Ohio (off Fulton Road, east of the Fulton/Whipple Ave. intersection). The church asks that we park from the middle of the lot to the back.

Cancellation Policy: Deposit is fully refundable if the cancellation notice from the participant is received on or prior to the final payment date of August 1, 2016. Unless the participant is able to find a substitute passenger, the total cost of the trip is nonrefundable if canceled after August 1, 2016.
