My name is Dr. Johnson and it is an absolute honor to be your principal. ]The student handbook is a helpful document that can be used to help you navigate your Winnetonka experience. You’ll find it helpful in understanding our identy as a school, our expectaons of you as a Griffin, and you can use it to find ways to help you personalize your high school experience through your involvement in clubs and acvies. Remember, you have inherited a wonderful school; Always take P.R.I.D.E in it! Each high school student is equipped with a laptop to stay connected to their learning 24/7. During schedule pick-up at registraon, students will be issued a laptop agreement form that will be required to be returned before being issued a computer. By using or taking possession of a laptop owned by North Kansas City Schools, a user and their parents/guardians are agreeing to comply with these Terms of Laptop Use Agreement, NKCS District Technology Usage Policy and the expectaons detailed in the Student/Parent Laptop Handbook. A+ The following criteria must all be met for eligibility in the A+ Student Financial Incenve Program: 1. Aend an A+ designated school for three consecuve years prior to graduaon; 2. Have at least a 95% aendance record for the four year period; 3. Graduate with a grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 point scale; 4. Perform fiy (50) hours of unpaid academic tutoring which is connected to North Kansas City Schools and supervised by a district employee; 5. Maintain a record of good cizenship and avoidance of unlawful use of alcohol or drugs or acts of violence. 6. Achieve a score of proficient or advanced on Algebra I End of Course Exam (or it’s equivalent). ACADEMIC LETTERING An academic leer will be awarded to students who achieve an academic G.P.A. of 3.75 or higher, averaged for the school year. Principal's List – Must aain GPA of 4.00 (not including disncon points). Honor Roll - Must aain GPA of 3.00 (not including disncon points) with no grade below C-. The Principal's List and Honor Roll are determined on a per semester basis. AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING/ACADEMIC BLITZ Winnetonka High School offers aer school tutoring on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the school year from 2:45 PM-4:15 PM. Our school offers academic blitzes periodically on Friday’s 2:45-4:45 PM and Saturdays 9:00-11:00 AM. AVID Advancement Via Individual Determinaon (AVID) is an academic elecve course that prepares students for college readiness and success, and it is scheduled during the regular school day as a yearlong course.
