Palottu Daivam, considered to be an incarnation of the Hindu God Vishnu to kill the demon Hayagreeva is the presiding deity of the temple. The Kavu or the temple complex comprises of a Nalukettu, sanctums of several Gods and Goddesses, Kailasakallu, Kodimaram and Pattupura. The shrine of Devi is outside the Nalukettu. OF PEOPLE (Local / National / International) PARTICIPATED EVENTS/PROGRAMS DESCRIPTION (How festival is celebrated) Poorotsavam starts on Karthika asterism of the Malayalam calendar month of Meenam. The festival is marked by Kazhakam Kayaral various rituals and ceremonies. The Kazhakam Kayaral Chovvavilakku Chadangu to Annekkara Poomala Temple on the third day Adiyanthiram and the Chovvavilakku Adiyanthiram on the fourth day are Marathukali some of the significant ritualistic events associated with the Poovideel festival. Marathukali and Poovideel are the main ceremonies Poorakkali on the fifth day. Poorakkali and Thozhuthupattu are the other rituals performed as part of the festival. A large number of devotees visit the temple during Poorotsavam to offer prayers and witness the rituals and ceremonies.
