The Iroquois course was inspected on June 13 by Ted Thompson and Jimmy Woods, track superintendent. Turf: The turf consists of a lush covering perennial rye grass and occasional summer grasses. The turf is thick, consistent, and feels good under foot. Smoothness: The course has been regularly core aerated and Cambridge rolled since the last running in 2019. It is smooth and consistent throughout. Compaction: 91 to 109 on the soft side of good. Moisture: 7 to 9.5 with an average reading of 8 average wet. Notes: We had showers almost every day last week. The forecast is for a mostly dry week this week with chances of rain Wednesday and Thursday of next week. With the benefit of irrigation, it is our intention to produce a course on the kind side of good on race day.
